    BIG EAST Player of the Week

    KEMBA WALKER, Conneccut, G, Jr.Walker led Connecticut to the EA Sports Maui

    Invitaonal tle, helping the Huskies to a 3-0 week.

    Conneccut had wins over Wichita State, No. 2/2 Michigan

    and No. 8/9 Kentucky in a three-day span to win the tourna

    Walker averaged 30 ppg in the three days, scoring a total

    for the tournament and coming just three points shy o

    tournament record. The junior also averaged 4.0 assists an

    steals per game.

    BIG EAST Rookie of the WeekGERARD COLEMAN, Providence, G, Fr.Coleman helped the Friars to a 1-1 record in the

    Cancun Challenge. He averaged 13.5 points, 4.0

    rebounds and 1.5 assists in two games for PC.

    Coleman had 12 points and four rebounds in a

    loss to La Salle, while notched 15 points and four more reb

    in a win over Wyoming. The freshman is averaging 10.8 p

    the season.

    BIG EAST Honor RollDion Dixon, Cincinna, G, Jr.

    Scored a career-high 20 points in a 68-34 win over Dayt

    7-of-12 shoong. Also had nine points and three assists in

    over Savannah State.

    Ausn Freeman, Georgetown, G, Sr.

    Tied a school record with seven 3-pointers in an 87-72 win

    Penn. Finished with 32 points on 7-of-9 shoong from thre

    Tim Abromais, Notre Dame, F, Sr.

    Named MVP of the Old Spice Classic, averaging 14.0 points a

    rebounds while leading the Irish to the tournament tle.

    Jusn Brownlee, St. Johns, F, Sr.

    MVP of the Great Alaska Shootout, leading St. Johns t

    tournament tle. He averaged 17.7 points and 4.3 rebounds

    shoong 66.7 percent from the eld.

    Rick Jackson, Syracuse, C, Sr.

    Had double-doubles in three games, including in the sem

    and nals of the Legends Classic. Named MVP of the tourna

    leading SU to the Legends Classic crown.

    WEEKLY HONORS

    Two of the BIG EASTs six top-25 teams are in acon

    Friday night.

    Conneccut, which is ranked No. 7 in this weeks Associ-

    ated Press poll and No. 9 in the ESPN/USA Today poll, looksto remain unbeaten as the Huskies take on UMBC at the

    XL Center in Harord, Conn. Conneccut is 3-0 against

    America East Conference opponents this season, and headcoach Jim Calhoun is 36-2 at Conneccut against current

    members of that conference.

    Villanova, ranked No. 12 in both polls this week, playsits rst game in the annual Philadelphia Big Five circuit

    tonight as the Wildcats face Saint Josephs at The Pavil-ion. Villanova is 43-24 all-me against the Hawks. TheWildcats have won 21 of their last 23 games against in

    the Philadelphia Big Five series.

    1998-99 season to start his career with

    six straight games in double gures.

    Young leads the team in scoring at

    13.8 ppg.

    Forward Devin Hill did not play againstNorthern Illinois and is out four to six

    weeks with a stress fracture in his le

    Five Bearcat players reached double

    gures. Forwards Rashad Bishop and

    Yancy Gates each had 10 points and

    seven boards.

    The Bearcats are o to their best start

    since 2004-05 which is also the last

    season they appeared in NCAA Tour-

    nament.

    The Bearcats leave Cincinna for the

    rst me this season when they play at

    Toledo on Saturday.

    me in the last 14 seasons, also winning

    their rst ve contests in 2005-06.

    Louisville is 101-7 under head coach Rick

    Pino when scoring 80 or more points.

    The Cardinals are in the middle of a

    school record-tying streak of 10 straight

    a 3-pointer at the end of regulaon. He

    had 21 points for the game.

    The Hoyas led by as many as 18 points

    in the rst half when they shot 71.4

    percent from the oor.

    Freeman scored 32 points in GUs

    previous game, a win over UNC-

    Asheville.

    added 14 points and 12 rebounds.

    The contest was the rst college game

    played at the Consol Energy Center.

    Pitt went into the game leading the

    naon with a 16.2 rebound margin and

    outrebounded the Dukes 56-35.

    The Panthers play their next two game

    at home before returning to the Conso

    Energy Center to meet Tennessee in the

    SEC-BIG EAST Invitaonal on Dec. 11.

    eastern. Guard Vincent Council added

    15 points, eight boards and six assists.

    Center Bilal Dixon contributed 14 points,

    12 rebounds and ve blocked shots.

    Brooks, who is averaging 19.4 ppg, or

    Council (16.9) has led PC in scoring in

    every game this year.

    The Friars host Rhode Island on Satur-

    day. Last season, PC lost to the Rams

    86-82 in Kingston.

    bench and led the team in scoring with

    20 points. Jusn Brownlee also played a

    reserve role and added 17 points. Both

    players nished with six rebounds.
