ANU + SAMIRAnu and Samir made a fast, first house purchasing decision shortly after getting married. They found a well-priced house on an acre plus lot, in an established neighbourhood close to downtown and bought it right away. Samir still cannot believe their luck in finding a home in this location, but his wife Anu thinks they may have overlooked big issues in their rush to buy. The kitchen, living and bedroom spaces do not work for their family. They don’t have enough storage or pantry space, and hosting large family gatherings is impossible with their dysfunctional, dated kitchen. Everything feels small and old, and they do not have a comfortable guest space. Samir’s parents visit for long periods of time, and have no private space of their own, and they share a bathroom with their grandson. Samir does not see this as a major issue, but Anu believes they can find a more functional home with all the space, privacy and upgrades that their family requires. Samir, however, loves their location and firmly believes that the house can be improved to suit all their needs.
