Los cristianos de todo el mundo se unen de una manera especial durante la Cuaresma, la Semana Santa y la Pascua Florida. Así, en esa temporada, la Tierra Santa está presente, también de manera especial, en nuestro corazón, en nuestros pensamientos y en nuestras ora-ciones.

Una vez al año, el Viernes Santo, nuestra parroquia es llamada a apoyar a los cristianos de Tierra Santa. La vida de muchos cristianos que viven allí depende de nuestros donativos.

Siendo una recaudación pontificia solicitada por el Papa Francisco, la colecta anual del Viernes Santo nos ofrece un vínculo directo que nos permite ser agentes de paz y ayudar a proteger los Lugares Santos. Al dar su donativo este Viernes Santo, usted estará apoyando la cristiandad en Tierra Santa.

Los Franciscanos, junto con otras entidades en Tierra Santa, albergan y alimentan a los pobres, les brindan formación religiosa y educación, mantienen los altares y las parroquias, y ofrecen servicios pastorales. Para mayor información, visite Myfranciscan.org/good-friday.

Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pon-tifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land.

The wars, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians. In these times of crisis, the Pontifi-cal Good Friday Collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees.

PASSION The contrast between the processional reading in today’s liturgy and the proclamation of the Passion is striking. We are given a glimpse of how profoundly the word of God is fulfilled in Jesus. First he must be hailed as the Messiah, the One who is to come. He must be acknowledged by all, though they do not know what they are saying. They think he is the promised king, a worldly king of the Jews who will free them from the Roman occupation. They do not yet understand, even the dis-ciples, exactly where this triumphal procession is leading. In our lives, we too do not know where we are going. LA PASIÓN El contraste entre la lectura procesional de la liturgia de hoy y la proclamación de la Pasión es asombroso. Vis-lumbramos cuán profundamente la Palabra de Dios se cumple en Jesús. Primero Jesús debe ser acogido como el Mesías, el que viene en nombre del Señor. Debe ser reconocido por to-dos, aunque no sepan lo que están diciendo. Todos pien-san que es el rey prometido; un rey terrenal de los judíos que los librará de la ocupación romana. No comprenden todavía, ni siquiera los discípulos, exactamente a dónde se dirige su procesión triunfal. Nosotros tampoco sabemos a dónde estamos yendo en nuestra vida.
