Bias news story

Impact – This story has a great impact due a well know celebrity being prosecuted for being a pedophile

Timelessness – The story is recent as all this has just recently been uncovered however the time period in which it has happened is over a large period of time

Prominence – Jimmy Savile was a hugely in the public eye. In the 80’s he hosted some of the largest TV shows like ‘Jim will fix it’ where he worked close with children

Proximity - Closeness of the occurrence tot he audience

The bizarre – When this story first came out it was bizarre as nobody expected it. Therefore it was shocking to the public that such an icon was doing these horrible things

Conflict – This story does evolve conflict due to it being uncovered many years after the incidents actually occurred and people arguing whether it could had been prosecuted earlier.

Human interest – For Jimmy Savile a house hold name that everyone knew about to unfold that he has had many sex offences makes it hugely in the human interest.

omission – This article does have both the BBC side of the story and what Savile said however, this is pushed into a small box on the side of the screen showing that they do not find this important. Therefore it is more subjective towards the BBC point of view

Selection of sources – The BBC have used no other sources only what they have said therefore the public will believe everything on this is true. However it is just what the BBC believe. It does have links to other articles about the story but these are all apart of the BBC website.

Placement – The story placement is in the ‘UK’ showing it is a National story and is only important to the UK and not the rest of the world.

Labeling –This has been labeled with ‘Scandal’ at the end of his name. This makes the audience believe that this is highly important. This is because ‘Scandal’ is placed there to show that this event has outraged the audience as it shows something that is morally wrong.

Spin –This story has a spin as it is only one interpretation of the event and shows noones opinions or attitudes to the event.

The picture - The image used of Jimmy Savile is trying to make him look bad. Due to it being a shot taken at random when Jimmy is not in his famous tracksuits or when he has been in hair and make up.
