It was wonderful to see all the smiling faces of our returning students. It was also great to meet a lot of our new families. Open House is a great way to begin the new relationship with your teacher. I heard a lot of positive feedback throughout the evening which means that the night was a success for all. Curriculum night is just around the corner on September 4 th . This will be another opportunity early in the school year to get to know your teacher and have the opportunity to learn about the classroom and get questions answered. It’s hard to believe that school starts on Monday. We are so excited to get the school year started for our students. Please be patient and expect delays during transition times of morning arrival and dismissal time. Buses are learning new routes and can be delayed for the first few days of school until they are able to work out the kinks and maneuver through traffic patterns. Carpool also tends to start off slow as students and new parents learn the procedures. Many of you will want to walk your child to class the first day of school. If you do walk your child into the building just please be aware of carpool and use the cross walk. We want to keep everyone safe. Please also keep in mind that pedestrians crossing the carpool lane at different points will stop traffic and create more delays in carpool. Using the cross walk will be the safest and most efficient way during arrival time for all families. Thursday will be the first day that we have all of our kindergarten students in the building. This again can impact our transition times as our 5 year olds and parents adjust to a new routine. I encourage all of our kindergarten parents to attend the Boo Hoo/Woo Hoo breakfast in the cafeteria after you drop your child off at class on Thursday, August 28 th at 8:15am. This will be a great way to meet other new families and learn how you can be involved with our PTA. Friday, August 29 th is our “Independence Day “! Starting Friday we will ask parents to allow your child to walk to class by themselves. We want our students to be self-directed and follow their classroom procedures as they unpack and get ready for the start of their day. The start of the school year and new routines is an exciting time but also a tiring time. Many of us will still be adjusting from the summer schedule of staying up late and sleeping in. With the school day being 7 hours long, don’t be surprised if by the end of the week or for the next few weeks you see more tears from your child than normal. School can be exhausting especially by Thursday and Friday. I know in my family we have had to adjust our social calendar on Friday evenings to allow our children time to recover from the long school week. Finally, I would like to wish every family a great start to a new school year. Our teachers have worked so hard this past week in preparation for Monday. Endhaven is a wonderful place and our staff feels honored and privileged to serve your children. Mr. Slattery Principal Contact PTA Endhaven Elementary - 6815 Endhaven Lane – CLT 28277 980-343-5436

Dear Parents,

Thank you to all the families who attended Open House last night. It

was also great to meet a lot of our new families. Open House is a great

Boo-Hoo Woo-Hoo Breakfast

Thursday, August 28th 8:15-9:15am in the Cafeteria

All Kindergarten and new Endhaven parents are invited to

the annual Boo-Hoo Woo-Hoo Breakfast.

This is a great opportunity to meet other parents and learn

more about our school.

All Endhaven students will need to proceed to their

classroom as normal, but younger siblings are welcome to

attend!

Endhaven Lobby got a Facelift!

Notice the fresh,

new look of the

Lobby? Many

volunteers have

been hard at work

over the summer giving the Lobby a new look.

The goal was to enhance the lobby, create

an inviting space, and share what we are all

about at Endhaven – being a T.E.A.M!

“Together Endhaven Achieves More”

Walls were painted, seating was added, and

Endhaven student art work is on display. We

hope everyone who walks through our doors

feels like they are a part of T.E.A.M. Endhaven!

We would like to especially thank Christine

Bittler, Sam Bednarski, Christy Masch, Christy

Quincannon, and Jacquie Slack for all of their

time, energy and enthusiasm!

TEAM Fund Drive

This year’s TEAM Fund Drive will kick off on Curriculum Night, September 4th, and run through September 30th. A donation form was included in the One Payment Form you received in your

Parent Packet at Open House, and more information will be coming home soon in your child’s Thursday folder. This year we have a fun and colorful way for your child to Be a Part of the TEAM!

Questions about donating? Contact Christy Masch at [email protected]

One Payment Form

Each student received a Back to School

Packet full of CMS, Endhaven, and PTA

information. We all know back to school

means many forms to fill out, supplies

to purchase, and papers to organize.

This year, the PTA has worked with

Administration to streamline some of

the paperwork and payment. In your

parent packet, there is a pink One

Payment Form. This form allows you to

choose the items you would like to lump

together in one payment.

The One Payment Form is due by

September 15th. If you need an

additional copy, it can be found at

www.endhavenpta.org/.

Character Education volunteers assist Endhaven’s

Guidance Counselor, Erika Clarke, with the Character

Education instruction included in her monthly Guidance

lessons. Character Education volunteers are responsible

for presenting a 30 minute classroom character

education lesson once a month. Monthly themes and

activity suggestion are provided and include fun

activities centered on that month’s character trait.

Why do we include Character Education in our

school?

Our goal as adults, parents, and educators is to teach

our children about morals, values, and beliefs. The

Character Education Program helps children develop

virtue. They learn how to be productive, live with

purpose, have compassion, and how to flourish in

society. Through the program, students develop skills

that helps them in with relationships with parents,

teachers, and peers, understanding discipline and

consequences, navigating through school life, making

them aware and accountable in the school environment,

and so much more. Everything that happens in their

school life is character education because everything

affects the development of a child’s character.

Please consider being a part of this wonderful team at

Endhaven. By working together we can help build strong

character in our children that will last a lifetime.

Sign-ups were out at Open House, click here for the

“Character education is a learning process that enables

students and adults in a school community to understand,

care about and act on core ethical values such as respect,

justice, civic virtue and citizenship, and responsibility for

self and others. Upon such core values, we form the

attitudes and actions that are the hallmark of safe,

healthy and informed communities that serve as the

foundation of our society." –US Dept. of Education,

Character Education

Each class at Endhaven will need a

Room Parent this school year. Room

Parents serve as a liaison between

teachers, parents, and the PTA to

facilitate communication including sharing information about

and/or seeking volunteers for upcoming PTA events and

classroom activities.

Please consider volunteering in this fun and important role.

Thank you to our 2014-15 Endhaven Business Sponsors

Help us show our appreciation by supporting these local businesses.

Dear Endhaven Parents,

Welcome back to all returning families and a special greeting to the pre-kindergarten, kindergarten parents and new families to our Endhaven community. On behalf of the PTA, we are looking forward to seeing you again at events throughout the school year.

The role of the PTA at Endhaven is to support the students, faculty and parents by providing volunteers, financial support and programs for everyone. This year we will be embracing the T.E.A.M. motto “Together Endhaven Achieves More.” We are so grateful for the families, friends, and neighbors that are a part of the T.E.A.M. It is from your contributions in volunteering, donating items, and financial contributions each year that allow our students and staff to fully embrace a 21st century learning community. Without your support, many of the activities provided to our students and faculty would not be possible. One way to show your support of Endhaven is to become a member of the PTA.

Our goal is to continue to streamline the information you receive, decrease paper copies and have one place you can go to get what you need from the PTA and to stay informed. We will continue to focus on utilizing our PTA website at www.endhavenptaorg for important information such as a calendar of events, how to volunteer, making payments, resources, class parent information and more. Bookmark www.endhavenpta.org in your internet browser!

As we continue to look at ways to simplify things, we are implementing the “one payment form.” This is the pink form found in your back to school packet. The one payment form is an opportunity for you to order and pay for items needed at one time at the beginning of the year. It will also assist the teachers with the collection of payments and simplifying the majority of expenses on one form and in one payment.

We are also very excited to announce that there will be two new events! A Mother / Son Bowling night on January 9th and A Father / Daughter dance on March 7th. We will continue to sponsor Pizza Bingo, Book Fairs, Family Fitness Night, the Spring Carnival, Endhaven Eats Outs Nights and more. These are all great opportunities to meet families, staff and classmates.

Finally, this past year our Fundraising team decided to have one main fundraiser for the 2014-15 school year, the “T.E.A.M. Fund Drive”. This will kick off on September 4th. Our focus is 100% participation with every contribution making a difference to our school. We will also continue to focus on our business partnerships and building relationships with the community. The fundraising 101 document included in the back to school packet outlines the many different options for financially supporting our school.

I look forward to seeing all Endhaven families at school events this year and hope you will join us as we T.E.A.M. up in 2014-15!

Sincerely,

Jacquie Slack

Endhaven PTA, President
