The Summit through its seven plenary and six technical sessions across the two days delved into

various policy and operational issues with views and experiences of over 70 speakers.

Technology in advancing financial inclusion continued to be the main focus of the Summit. Few

sessions have been held to address in providing a platform to a new Fintech companies to

showcase their solutions and discussed issues around offering more appropriate, need-based

credit products to microfinance clients. The summit also provided the delegates an opportunity

to participate in live polls, providing feedbacks and positing questions.

AMA Organized two Microfinance Stakeholders Roundtables

As a new creativity, to achieve better outcomes, AMA organized two separate roundtables in

Balkh and Herat provinces. The purpose of these roundtables was to raise the awareness of the

local government authorities to discuss DFIs issues/challenges and attract their support. These

roundtables provided opportunity for Microfinance Sector to discuss their issues directly with the

government authorities and get their support.

The roundtables took place during November 2019, where 130 participants participated in these

roundtables and received detailed information about the microfinance sector, and MFIs

challenges. During the gathering, participants parted in groups and discussed about loan

disbursement process, marketing, security, recruitment of employees and collection of Loans.

As a result the roundtables increased awareness on microfinance among the Governmental

Authorities, Community Leaders, Attorney and Municipality. MFIs talked about their specific

issues and the government authorities promised to fully support the microfinance sector in the

mentioned provinces.

The participants thanked DFIs for operating in Balkh and Herat provinces and as well thanked

MISFA for supporting the sector and appreciated AMA for organizing awareness-raising events.
