President’s Corner
Happy New Year – bring on 2017!
They say the older you get the faster time goes by. My first year as Colorado Chapter President could
not have gone any faster. We tried to fill the calendar with new and exciting events along with the
traditional events and hope everyone felt it was successful. I certainly am open to suggestions in
adding other events or tweaking the current calendar to better suit members’ needs. Please call or
email with any suggestions – I’m all ears. We are also working on new events this year that should
continue to provide a diverse calendar of social and driving events.
A goal of mine for this year is to continue and build on the Philanthropic element of the club. We are
all fortunate to be in a position to own and enjoy the company of our Ferraris and fellow members. If
we can do our part to give back in a meaningful way, I am all for it. Many members are currently active
in events throughout the year that benefit wothy charities:
ACC Concours d’Elegance Beneficiary: Ability Connection for Early Childhood Education
AutoMezzi Beneficiary: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Morgan Adams Concours d’Elegance Beneficiary: Morgan Adams Foundation
Our first event this year, Enzo’s Birthday Party, will be a chance to begin our Philanthropic goal. We are
proud to announce that this event is dedicated to the Morgan Adams Foundation. Some of our
partners and other generous organizations have donated items that will be included in a silent auction
that night. I’d also like to thank Peter Taylor with his generous effort and financial commitment in
bringing Steve Matchett as our guest speaker that evening. THANK YOU PETER! Finally, I’m sure many
of you are charitable in your own right; with that in mind, I am not here to foster an uncomfortable
situation for anyone. Please don’t feel obligated or pressured to donate or participate unless your
heart tells you to. We will try to keep this philanthropic endeavor as non threatening as possible.
I’m also happy to report the Enzo Dinner sold out in 4 days – although with speed bumps in the process
that created some confusion. So I am asking all members to follow this process for any event we
announce:
FIRST: Always RSVP to [email protected] – this is our event mailbox that I check frequently.
SECOND: Send your funds (if pre-payment is required) to our Treasurer, Frank Strazzabosco
1311 Northview Dr. Erie, CO 80516-9069
THIRD: Always make your checks payable to FCA – CO
We ran into a problem where some members sent payment to Frank for the Enzo Event and didn’t
RSVP. If we go over the limit for an event, those that RSVP get priority.
Looking forward to an exciting 2017-
Best Regards-

We’ve all heard the story of the mid-60’s when Ford was going to buy out Ferrari. Luckily, Enzo continuing his
brilliance declined the offer pushing Ford into a rage of anger thus starting the war between the American
Super V-8’s and the Italian mogul. To this day that battle marches on…..even between siblings.
My brother is an avid Mustang fan and he has built a Mach 1 from ground up to race for SCCA. Sure it’s fast
and sounds like American muscle, however when he had me drive the car and my reaction was less than
stellar…..my brother pics a fight with me every time we see each other. He doesn’t understand why anyone
would spend so much money on a car that….in his mind can be blown away by an upper echelon Mustang that
costs ¼ of the price. What he doesn’t understand, that I explain to him time and time again, is that it’s not just
about the power or torque….it’s about the rich history of a visionary that created the most recognized car
brand of all time.
In 1966 Ford humiliated Ferrari by winning a 1-2-3 slide with their GT-40 at Le Mans and my brother never lets
me forget that. Although, my argument is that the GT-40 or the new GT that Ford has rebirthed still costs
$400,000……which, to my knowledge is about $150,000 premium on a brand new Ferrari 488 GTB!!! My
brother argues that he’s not talking about the GT…..he’s talking about Mustang specifically. Hummmm…..that
is like comparing a Huffy to a Shwinn, Sketchers to Minola Blahniks or McDonalds to The Buckhorn Exchange!!!!
It doesn’t compute and they are nowhere near the same wheelhouse of the automotive industry.
All in all……my brother and I will never agree on this matter. As I try to “agree to disagree” the hammer is
always dropped on why Ferrari’s are ridiculous, foolish and vapid. As he is 9 years my senior….there is no use in
quarrelling for something he just will not understand. I’m extremely thankful to be a part of such an amazing
club with the highest prestige and reverence. He may be proud of his charging horse, however our proud,
alluring and indomitable stallion wins hearts and respect across the world. THAT I cannot argue….even if the
challenge will always be relevant between siblings.

Horse Sense Winter is in full swing and the weekend play toys are tucked away nicely in the garage. However, don't forget that you have likely made a sizable investment in your daily driver or Winter car as well, and keeping it well maintained and protected during normal use is also very important. We see two consistent forms of damage come through the shop during Winter. The first is an increased amount of rock chips to the leading impact edges of the car. The second is a sharp deterioration of the finish on the wheels. The rock chip damage comes as the roads become dirtier and dirtier from the amount of snow & sanding on the roads; consequently the dirt it traps with it. This sand forms clumps and pellets that can damage the front of your vehicle, especially while driving on the highway. The single solution to avoid rock chips is Paint Protection Film or Clear Bra. The technology in protective films has come a very long way in the last 4 years. We now have top coated films that do not yellow, crack, or fade with warranty's of 10 years. We also have software that allows us to custom design coverage and wrap edges for a seamless look. The advance in technology of the film and the installation processes allows us to cover much larger areas of the vehicle without the negative visual impact the old films used to have on the vehicles. There is no better way to completely protect the vehicles paint and maintain the value of your investment than Paint Protection Film. Wheel degradation comes from the Mag Chloride used to treat the roads during Winter. As the Mag Chloride gets gets collected on your wheels along with the other dirt and contaminants, it begins to eat away at your wheel’s finish. This happens much quicker during Winter because the snow allows the contaminants to remain on the wheel’s finish longer.
We combat this chemical damage by using Quartz Coatings that are capable of withstanding the chemicals. These coatings are designed to last up to a year, will protect the wheels finish, and make washing and cleaning the wheels much easier. If you have any questions about how to properly maintain your
daily driven vehicle during Winter, please don't hesitate to shoot
us an email or a call!
