Follow these safety instructions when installing the appliance.

WARNING ‒ Risk of electric shock!¡ Improper installation is dangerous.▶ Connect and operate the appliance only in accordance with

the specifications on the rating plate.▶ Connect the appliance to a power supply with alternating

current only via a properly installed socket with earthing.▶ The protective conductor system of the domestic electrical

installation must be properly installed.▶ Never equip the appliance with an external switching

device, e.g. a timer or remote control.▶ When the appliance is installed, the mains plug of the

power cord must be freely accessible. If free access is notpossible, an all-pole isolating switch must be installed in thepermanent electrical installation according to the installationregulations.▶ When installing the appliance, check that the power cable is

not trapped or damaged.

CAUTION ‒ Risk of harm to health!¡ To prevent food from being contaminated, you must observe

the following instructions.▶ If the door is open for an extended period of time, this may

lead to a considerable temperature increase in the compart-ments of the appliance.▶ Regularly clean the surfaces that may come into contact

with food and accessible drain systems.▶ Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers in the refri-

gerator so that they do not touch or drip on other food.▶ If the fridge/freezer is empty for an extended period of time,

switch off the appliance, defrost it, clean it and leave thedoor open to prevent the formation of mould.

¡ If acidic food comes into contact with aluminium in the appli-ance, aluminium foil ions may pass into the food.▶ Do not consume soiled food.

Damaged appliance

on the base, runners or doors.¡ Contamination with oil or fat may

cause plastic parts and door sealsto become porous.▶ Keep plastic parts and door

seals free of oil and grease.¡ Metal or metal-style parts in the ap-

pliance may contain aluminium.Aluminium reacts when it comesinto contact with acidic foods.▶ Do not store unpackaged food

in the appliance.

Selecting the installation locationFollow these instructions when in-stalling your appliance.

electric or gas cookers.– Maintain a 30 cm clearance to

oil or solid-fuel cookers.The appliance needs to cool lessfrequently at low ambient temper-atures.

¡ Use a niche depth of 560 mm.¡ Do not cover or block ventilation

¡ Transport purchased food in acool bag and place in the appli-ance quickly.

¡ Allow warm food and drinks tocool down before placing them inthe appliance.

¡ Thaw frozen food in the refriger-ator compartment to utilise the lowtemperature of the food.The air in the appliance does notwarm up so intensely.The appliance must cool less fre-quently.

¡ Always leave some spacebetween the food and to the backpanel.

¡ Pack the food airtight.The air can circulate and the airhumidity remains constant.

Criteria for the installationlocationFollow these instructions when in-stalling your appliance.

WARNINGRisk of explosion!If the appliance is in a space that istoo small, a leak in the refrigerationcircuit may result in a flammable mix-ture of gas and air.▶ Only install the appliance in a

space with a volume of at least1 m3 per 8 g refrigerant. Thevolume of refrigerant is indicatedon the rating plate. → Fig.  1 / 3

The weight of the appliance ex worksmay be up to 70 kg depending onthe model.The subfloor must be of sufficient sta-bility to bear the weight of the appli-ance.

Permitted room temperatureThe permitted room temperature de-pends on the appliance's climateclass.The climate class can be found onthe rating plate. → Fig.  1 / 3

You can keep meat, sausage, fish,dairy products, eggs, prepared mealsand pastries in the refrigerator com-partment.You can set the temperature in therefrigerator compartment from 2 °Cto 8 °C.The recommended temperature inthe refrigerator compartment is 4 °C. → ""OK" sticker", Page 16The refrigerator compartment canalso be used to store highly perish-able foods in the short to mediumterm. The lower the selected temper-ature, the longer the food remainsfresh.

Tips for storing food in the re-frigerator compartmentFollow the tips if you store food inyour refrigerator compartment.¡ To ensure that the freshness and

quality of the food is retained forlonger, only store fresh and un-spoiled food.

¡ In the case of ready-madeproducts and bottled goods, donot exceed the best-before date oruse-by date specified by the manu-facturer.

¡ To retain aroma, colour and fresh-ness or to prevent taste transferand discolouration of the plasticparts, store food well wrapped orcovered.

¡ Leave warm food and beveragesto cool down before placing themin the refrigerator compartment.

Chill zones in the refrigeratorcompartmentThe air circulation in the refrigeratorcompartment creates different chillzones.

Coldest zoneThe coldest zone is between the ar-row stamped on the side and theshelf underneath.Tip: Store perishable food (e.g. fish,sausage, meat) in the coldest zone.

Warmest zoneThe warmest zone is at the very topof the door.Tip: Store food that does not spoileasily in the warmest zone, e.g. hardcheese and butter. Cheese can thencontinue to release its aroma and thebutter will still be easy to spread.

"OK" stickerThe "OK" sticker lets you checkwhether the refrigerator compartmentreaches the safe temperature rangesof +4 °C or colder recommended forfood.The "OK" sticker is not included withall models.If the sticker does not indicate "OK",gradually reduce the temperature. → "Setting the refrigerator compart-ment temperature", Page 15Once the appliance is switched on, itmay take up to 12 hours until the settemperature is reached.

Observe the information when youwant to defrost your appliance.

Defrosting in the refrigeratorcompartmentWhen the appliance is operating,condensation droplets or frost formon the rear panel of the refrigeratorcompartment due to functional reas-ons. The back panel in the refriger-ator compartment defrosts automatic-ally.Condensation runs through the con-densation channel into the drainagehole to the evaporation pan and doesnot have to be wiped away.To ensure that the condensation candrain and odours do not form, ob-serve the following information: → "Cleaning the condensation chan-nel and drainage hole", Page 18.
