The dark web is also a part of
deep web, but, it is a little
different from it. The little
difference makes the entire
difference. The objective to
build the dark web as a
medium to share private
projects of intelligence
agencies vanished with time.
Then it started to act as a
medium of illegal activities.
Most of the content on the
dark web is disturbing and
illegal. It is a place where
unknown criminals buy illegal
drugs and weapons from
unknown sellers. They are
unknown because everybody
is anonymous on the dark
web. The network traffic there
cannot be easily monitored
and they can easily hide their
identity and surf illegal stuff.
Now it is more difficult to
visit dark web. You need TOR
browser for that and many
authentications are necessary.
You need to set i2p proxy
chains in order to remain
completely anonymous,
because if you get caught
visiting dark web by any
means you will directly land
into jail. Yes, accessing dark
web is illegal, so please don’t
ever try it.
Ansh Bhawnani 4th Sem ‘A’
It is not meant for normal
public. This web is called deep
web and it is a subset of the
total internet. It is just the
opposite of surface web.
Generally it contains that
information which should be
handled carefully and kept
private.
The motive behind the deep
web was to hide confidential
content which is not meant to
be accessed by any person on
the internet and is just meant
for some specific people. So
any website on the deep web
can only be accessed if
somebody has its URL or the
link which usually ends with a
.onion extension. Also, the
deep web cannot be accessed
normally by your browser
which might be Google
Chrome, Firefox or Safari. It
can be accessed by a special
service called The Onion
Router or more commonly
called as TOR browser which
is meant for these purposes and
requires separate arrangements
like setting proxies, etc.
The deep web contains
government files and other
content which cannot be
indexed through the web
crawlers of search engines
search engines. Now, deep web
is not illegal. No illegal content
is present on the deep web.
Now comes the last distinction.
I know most of us will get
curious about it after this
section, but please don't ever
try to visit the dark web. This
article will explain why you
should not, but please stay
away from this side of the
internet. Now what can be the
possible reason of this
warning? After the deep web
was discovered, the criminals
found a way to grow their
market anonymously with the
help of world wide web. Their
dream was fullfilled when the
US government realised the
idea of dark web in early 90's,
as a medium to share private
projects of intelligence
agencies of its territories. The
dark web is also a part of deep
Surface Web,
Deep Web and
Dark Web
All of us use internet and are
familiar with it. You request
the server of any website and it
sends the response via HTTP.
Do you think you can access
anything you want on the
internet? Well there is a very
interesting fact. The internet
you can normally visit, is only
5% of the total content
available on the world wide
web. It can vary from 4 to 7%,
but not more than that.
This internet, that you search
for, is called the surface web.
It is available to everyone who
is capable of accessing
internet. It contains public
information which need not to
be hidden from anyone.
Everybody can visit the
surface web normally. It
contains that websites which
are indexed by google. Google
has billions of search results
for every query you make, still
that's only 5% of total results.
So this is how vast the real
internet is.
Now there is another type of
web which is not indexed by
any search engine like Google.
It contains the remaining 90 to
95% of the internet. It is not
meant for normal public. This
web is called deep web and it
isuld be handled carefully and
kept private. The motive
behind the deep web was to
hide confidential content
which is not meant to be
accessed by any person on the
internet and is just meant for

ISSUE 09
JANUARY 2018
resolve these issues, Google
initiated a project called Project
Treble to ensure availability of
faster updates.
So the question arises how
Project Treble can help?
Well, Project Treble makes the
Android more modular. There is
going to be a new vendor
interface that will readily contain
all chips and drivers unlike
previous, where it had to be
changed every time when the
Android is updated. Google will
work with chip manufacturers
like Qualcomm and MediaTek to
ensure that this vendor interface
works with future and stock
versions of Android. To test the
compatibility of the vendor
interface, it will be validated by
a Vendor Test Suite (VTS).
This project facilitates faster
upgradation to the latest Android
updates and its implementation
will be starting from Android
Oreo. The entire project
documentation will be available
by Google I/O.
So do you think this initiative by
Google will help solving
problems regarding updates?
Will Project Treble be helpful?

Project Treble:
Update Saviour
Nowadays, most of the smart
phones use Android as their
operating system. It is popular and
has a fantastic user interface. But a
major flaw in Android is its
delayed updates. Ever thought
why, that though Android Oreo
has been launched, many
smartphones are still using
Lollipop and Marshmallow?
Before answering this question,
first we have to learn how Google
update works.
First, Google publishes the
updated source code of Android.
Then, processor manufacturers
such as Qualcomm, MediaTek,
Cortex, etc. release drivers to
support the specific hardware and
pass it along device makers
(brands such as Lenovo, Xiaomi,
Samsung etc). They set their layers
(custom UI) over the original
Android. It’s just like making their
own version of Android on top of
the updates. Samsung named its
interface as Samsung Experient
and Xiaomi as MIUI. Now, phones
such as Pixel or Moto are known
to get faster updates but Samsung
is just opposite. The reason behind
this if any one of them (either
Google, chipset manufacturer or
device maker) delays then the
whole process is slowed and
updates are available later. To
resolve these issues, Google
initiated a project called Project
Treble to ensure availability of
faster updates.
