Extension Activities
The college is committed towards upliftment of society through dynamic education. Faculty of
college is always engaged and self-determined towards creating legal awareness among masses.
College staff visits to different junior, senior colleges in the vicinity of Karad and interacting
with students as well as villagers about the different aspects of law.
All these extension activities are carried on non-profit basis i.e. we are not charging or expecting
consideration from them. All programmes are run on our own.

College is actively carries Legal awareness programmes at other colleges. One of such workshop
was organized at Matoshri Bayabai Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Kadegaon on “Laws relating to
Women”. In this workshop different laws have been covered like Anti-ragging, Protection of
Women from Domestic Violence Act, Maintenance, etc.

As a part of legal awareness programme, we reached at different colleges in the vicinity and
gives lecture on different laws. Audience that mainly concern is the youth with whom we can
have good dialogue regarding their responsibility towards society, parent and the nation.
They should learn the provisions of law in this regard we hold such talk shows at different
colleges and schools.
HUMAN RIGHTS AWARENESS PROGRAMME
Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission has requested the college to initiate towards
Human Rights education and human value. Accordingly the college started a move. We have
reached to about 2500 school and college students in the vicinity of Karad. We talked about
the Preamble of the Constitution, Values enshrined in the Constitution, our National Emblem
and National Ideals etc.
Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission has organised the programme to inculcate
basic human values and to cater human rights education among the young minds.
The college has set up team of students and Mr. M. S. Khairnar acting as Coordinator of
the programme.
Lectures has been conducted at High Schools and Jr. Colleges such as Ratary School,
Malkapur, SMS English Medium School, Karad, BVDU‟s English Medium School, Vita
etc.
All these activities are sponsored by on our own. We have not paid for it. Our students also
born these expenses and spend their lots of time with us in carrying out this movement. We
sent the report to SHRC of Maharashtra and visited the office on Human Rights Day. The
office also took cognizance of our efforts and the felicited the staff and students of this
college.
Faculty Development Programme
Law College of Karad and of Sangli has jointly organized „Faculty Development
Programme‟ to enhance the skill and knowledge of the faculty.
Prof. Dr. Vijay Ghormade, an eminent academician and emeritus professor at various
Universities, was called for delivering lecture on Teaching Pedagogy in law.
Dr. Ghormade has delivered very wonderful lecture on teaching techniques in law. There is a
lack of policy in prescribing eligibility as to teaching methodology in law. He shares his
experiences that he came across at different countries. He illustrated how foreign countries
have their education system and how they groom the students in law etc.

Guest observing the posters displayed at classroom and this exhibition was made open to all
strata of society for this period of prerana saptah. Many people have visited to this exhibition
and applauded the work of the college and work of students towards sensitizing the issues like
Save Girl Child.
One day workshop „Yuva Chetana‟ was arranged at the college campus on 12 Jan. 12012. 12
Jan. is the Birthdate of Swami Vivekananda and birthday is celebrated as „Yuva Din‟ i.e. Youth
Day. On this occasion we have organized a workshop covering different issues pertaining to
youth. For this programme we invited students from all colleges in the vicinity of Karad as well
as we invited speakers from different faculties to have dialogue with audiences.

We invited Dr. Mohan Rajmane as Chief guest of this programme. Dr. Rajmane sir is the
Principal of SGM College at Karad. He is a recipient of „Karad Bhushan Purskar- 2012‟. He
inaugurated the workshop. In his inauguration speech he interacted with students. He emphasized
on multi-tasking and achieving excellence in the area of work. He requested the gathering to set
target and give time-bound programme to achieve the goal. This will give hundred percent
success to students not only in examination but in all spheres of life.
Dr. D. T. Pawar is the Regional Transport Officer of Kolhapur Division. He is having his Ph.d.
in law from Pune university. He interacted with students and urged on having values based
education. He said „character‟ is the most significant feature of human life. Therefore while
leading a path of career or of life one must take care of his/her „character‟. Valued based
education, ethical education is the foundation of social trust. It must be preserved by every
generation.
Dr. Umergikar is known for his inspirational speech and his contribution in developing soft skill
training at corporate world. He propounded the value of soft skills in the career and life of every
person. He shared his experiences and suggested some tricks of communication.
9 Jan. “Women Empowerment” One Day Workshop for women
On this occasion of prerana saptah, we organized one day workshop for women. We invited
college and school going girl students as well as we invited house-wife residing in near vicinity
of college.
In this workshop we kept four sessions of 40 minutes each. We invited resource persons to
deliver talk on different issues. Sou. Sunitatai Kadam was the Chairperson of the workshop.
Adv. Varsh Deshpande a renown social activists working for saving girl child. She described the
picture of female feticide taking place around us. She shared her experiences from social field
and legal field. She expressed that advocates are more interested in taking case of accused.
Because they got much fees for defending the accused. However prosecution side is week in
representing the case. She urged all the students of law to practice more for defending the
accused but help the society in inflicting punishment to wrongdoer. Medical practitioners are
more involved in female feticide cases.
Dr. Yugantara Kadam interacted with the gathering on health related issues of every woman. She
said that a woman should understand to take care of herself first. If she is fit then she can do
anything for other members of family.
Mrs. Malantai Mohite discussed about the political independence of women. She is from
political field and experienced that men are leading the women. She said that though the
reservation is given to women in contesting the election. Still today her husband and relatives
takes command over her and compels her in taking decisions not of her choice.
For these programmes we received huge response from the society. Women from different strata
of society were present for the programme. Society is the main stakeholder of any institution we
are taking good care of this stakeholder.
Lead College Activity- “Case Study on PWDV Act” by Adv. Usha Bheda
Shivaji University has implemented the scheme as „Lead College‟, under this scheme one
college should take lead in organizing seminar or lecture of luminaries and invite few
students from the colleges adjacent to it.
We also hold the programme under Lead College Activity on 9th
Jan. 2012. The College has
organized “Case Study on PWDV Act” by Adv. Usha Bheda on Students from all law
college under Shivaji Uni. were present

This programme has been inaugurated at the august hands of Hon. Dr. Patangrao Kadan Saheb.
In his inaugural speech he congratulated both the colleges for taking efforts in organizing such
wonderful programme especially for youth. He also welcomed all the guests on this occasion at
the premise of Bharati Vidyapeeth at Sangli campus.
Yuva spandan is the program that we have organized in association with New Law College
Sangli. This programme was organized for youth. Younger generation should know more about
values, ethics and develop their personality in different spheres.
On this occasion we invited Dr. Sudha Kankaria, a renowned eye specialist and known for her
contribution in „Beti Bachao‟ i.e. Save Girl Movement. She addressed the gathering in her
smooth spoken words and appealed them to contribute towards saving of girl child. She also
gave a calendar describing an oath to save girl child.
Dr. Shirish Limaye talked on „Swami Vivekanand and todays generation‟. In his speech Dr.
Limaye was also present on this occasion. He is associated with Swami Ramkrishna Math, Pune.
He described the values prorogated by Swami Vivekananda. He appealed to the audience to
follow Swami Vivekananda, if they want to be a successful human being.
Dr. Charudatta Kulkarni, psychiatrist by profession illuminating the student about life style in the
Competition era in his own style. He conducted some practices to develop relaxing techniques.

Legal Aid and Literacy Camp
College is actively engaged in organizing legal aid and literacy programmes for the common
masses. In this year we organized two legal aid and literacy camps at Hanbarwadi, Masur and at
Khodashi, Karad.

Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony- academic year 2011-12
Annual prize distribution ceremony takes place at the end of every academic year. For the
academic year 2011-12 we invited Dr. D. G. Kanase, Principal, BV‟s Matoshri Bayabai Kanya
Mahavidyalaya, Kadegaon as Chairperson of the function. Also we invited Dr. Jaya Kurhekar to
deliver speech on women and Peronality develoment on the occasion of Women Day -8th
March
Dr. Kanse congratulated to all the winner and participants. He said that it is the college wherein
student can learn and enjoy the life in more matured manner. Learning is the main component of
college education but setting up and pursuing the target is the prime destination of college life.
He wished success to all the students in their career and life.
Dr. Kurhekar had dialogue with students especially girl students on this occasion scheduled on
march 8. It is the day on which world celebrated Women Day. She explained the responsibilities
that every woman carries in her life. She urged that woman should learn to respect herself first
then she can expect same respect from others. Ever woman should learn about her own health,
finance, and status.
