What is Nanotechnology?
Nanotechnology refers to a field of applied science whose theme is the control of matter on an atomic and molecular scale. Generally nanotechnology is approximately 100 nanometers or smaller and involves developing materials or devices within that size. One nanometer (nm) is one billionth, or 109 of a meter.To put that scale into context, the comparative size of a nanometer to a meter is the same as that of a football to the size of the earth. Or another way of putting it: A nanoparticle is really, really small. And Nanoparticles can help to protect surfaces in a better way.
Hydrophobicnanotechnology protects surfaces better
Moisture, rain and UV radiation are the main causes of almost all damage to outdoor furniture and outdoor kitchens made of teak, hardwoods, stainless steel, stone, hardstone, powder coated metals, glass, resin, fabric, etc. Preventing water ingress into the structure of the surface can eliminate or significantly reduce the risk of damage to the furniture caused by moisture. We call this THE LOTUS EFFECT. It helps to slow down the influences of the weathering process.
Our secret:NanoSurfaceProtec
Conventional protectors prevent water ingress but simultaneously seal off the pores blocking water within. They are much less resistant to UV radiation or to scratches that allow water to re- penetrate surfaces. Protectors with NANOSURFACEPROTEC prevent moisture from entering the surface.
The water repellent nano-particles of our new NANOSURFACEPROTEC are much, much smaller than the pores of the surface. Due to this and the low viscosity, they penetrate deep into the material and chemically bond to the inner pore walls, thus making the surface hydrophobic.
External water is kept from entering the pores, while water vapor which is generated from within the structure can still escape. The structure of the surface remains breathable.

We developed NANOSURFACEPROTEC to combat these problems. It not only increases the longevity of treated surfaces, but it also decreases the cleaning frequency.
How does it work?
The Nanoparticles work in a 3 step process:
1. The liquid is applied to the surface.
2. The Nanoparticles organize and arrange themselves. They bond to the surface and fill up the pores.
3. They become part of the surface itself and start doing their job: to protect.

Most of the others: hazardous solventsSome outdoor furniture manufacturers, garden centers or outdoor furniture specialist retailers are still selling furniture care products containing very dangerous solvents / volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The label then often says danger, flammable, corrosive, harmful or toxic. These environmentally damaging solvents (VOCs) are some of the culprits contributing towards the hole in the
ozone layer (= greenhouse effect / global warming). Some products also irritate and are dangerous for skin and eyes.

Teak & Hardwood Cleaner
To clean and restore discoloured, dark grey teak and hardwood, this water-based formula is not only a high concentration cleaner, but it also contains brightener- ingredients, which bring back the original colour of new teak/hardwood.Most of the competitive brands require a 2-step-process: a separate cleaner and brightener. This creates twice as much work for the consumer. An extra advantage: unlike most of the other teak cleaners, ours is classified as non-hazardous.
About teak & hardwood care
Weathering of teak & hardwoodTeak is a tropical hardwood with a beautiful golden-brown colour when it is new. Over time, as natural teak is exposed to the elements, it gradually changes colour from the honey colour of new teak to a silver-grey patina which distinguishes finely aged, outdoor teak. After a while this silver-grey patina deteriorates to a dark-grey and greenish look if it remains untreated.
Depending on the environment, natural greying and/or weathering may become noticeable after only a few weeks. In drier climates teak will take several months to weather. If teak is exposed to infrequent moisture, the colour will fade slowly with minor discolourisation. In moist climates, where furniture is subjected to regular dew and sunshine, teak & hardwood outdoor furniture will weather more quickly.

What to do with very severe mould and mildew stains?
When fabrics are heavily weathered for a couple of years in a humid outdoor environment, severe mould and mildew stains might become visible.These heavy stains will not always be completely removed by a Fabric & Upholstery Cleaner.
What to do then?Simple. Take a bucket and just mix our Fabric Cleaner with Household Bleach in a ratio 1:1. And then repeat the cleaning process as described in the Fabric Cleaner instructions at the back of the bottle.
