Physical Aids

Bed/Chair Blocks

Bed or chair raisers suitable for legs or castors. Available in 40 mm

or 100 mm high. Can take 65 mm diameter bed/chair leg or castor.

They are heavy duty with a load capacity of 250 kg.

Can be used together to make a 140 mm riser.

Using the blocks allows you to get in and out of your raised chairs or

beds more easily.

Small 4 x 40 mm. Large 4 x 100 mm.

Contour Turner

Assists with turning small or difficult

knobs and taps. Sprung rods conform to

a variety of shapes giving greater grip

and assist turning. Large plastic T piece

handle to increase leverage without the

need for strength in the fingertips.

Key Turner

A curved, plastic handled device that can hold up to three keys.

The handle provides a large grip and gives extra leverage when

turning a key in a lock. Key(s) fold into the handle when not in use.

Rubber Jar Opener

A conical shaped rubber jar opener with a ribbed inner surface.

The cone shape fits into the palm of the hand and the inner surface

fits over the lid to give improved grip when opening a jar or bottle.

The outer surface is grooved to provide additional grip for fingers.

Can also be used to turn knobs. It is designed to accommodate lids

from 20 mm to 75 mm.

Gives better leverage with a more

secure grip for opening jars and bottles.

Assists sufferers of arthritis and

rheumatism.

Multi Jar Opener

A stainless steel hand held jar, bottle and can opener with a rubber

non-slip grip coating. Designed to assist with jar lids, ring pull cans,

twist bottle caps, metal soft drink lids, removing safety seal tabs and

opening foil/plastic packages. The opener has a large, contoured,

slip-resistant rubber handle to assist with gripping and is suitable for

left or right handed use. Dishwasher safe or hand wash in warm water

with detergent.

Book Seat

A lightweight free standing book holder

that adjusts to any surface and is suitable

for use in bed, on a table or lap. It has a

fabric cover with bean filling, is soft and

pliable and can be shaped to hold the

book. Designed specifically for standard

novels but larger books and magazines

can be accommodated. A page holder

keeps the pages in position.

Also great for use with iPads.

WARNING : Small lightweight beans

inside may present a danger to children

if swallowed or inhaled.

The zip tab has been removed to prevent accidental opening.

Red Reading Stand

The Red Reading Stand is made of sturdy powder coated metal and is

large enough to be used with magazines. It measures 14.5 cm in height

and is suitable for desktop use.

Homecraft Tap Turners

A dome-shaped plastic tap turner

with an angled lever handle. The tap

turner is used with four pronged

style taps. Simply fit over the tap

handles to give greater leverage.

The turners can be left permanently

in position with red over the hot tap

and blue over the cold tap.

Leg Lifter

A reinforced webbing strap with a

loop at each end. It is used to assist

a person to lift their leg onto a bed,

leg rest or into a car.

The user puts the smaller softer loop

over the wrist and the longer, firmer

loop over the foot. The leg is lifted

when the strap is pulled.

Bed Pole - Large and Small

A lightweight bed pole made from anodised aluminium tubing which

when placed underneath the mattress provides a pole on one side

of the bed, to assist with transferring and bed mobility.

Available in two sizes. Suitable for use on all sizes of beds - single,

double, queen and king.

Bed Cradle

Aluminium bed cradle designed to

keep bedclothes off the user.

Suitable for any sized bed.

Helping Hand Pick-up Stick Classic Pro

An aluminium pick-up stick with rubber lined plastic jaws. A trigger style

action is required to close the jaw located at the end of the stick.

It features a magnetised tip to assist in picking up small magnetic items

and a clip for attachment to a wheelchair or walking frame. A small

extended tip can be used to hook items to bring them nearer the user.

Helping Hand Handi-Grip Pro

An aluminium pick up stick, with moulded plastic squeeze or trigger

action handle. The claw can adjust to two positions.

Swivel Cushion

A transfer aid designed to assist a user to rotate while seated.

This may be useful for transfers in and out of a car or vehicle seat,

or on and off a bed. It consists of two padded discs which are held

together with a rotating fibreglass plate. Each disc has a nylon material

surface in contact with the other. This provides low friction and allows it

to rotate. The bottom disc has a slip resistant base. The top disc is

covered with cotton on the outside surface.

Handybar Vehicle Transfer Support Handle

A portable, alloy metal handle which is fitted into the car door lock

striker. Once located, it assists the user to transfer in and out of the car

seat by providing a rigid support handle. The handle has a slip resistant

foam padded grip and can be used independently or by an attendant

assisting a person in or out of a vehicle. Also incorporates emergency

side window breaker and stainless steel emergency belt cutter.

Battery Illuminated Magnifiers

A range of illuminated magnifiers that provide a variety of options and

styles. Small round magnification head takes two C cell batteries. Large

rectangular magnification head takes three AA batteries.

Solid Dome Magnifier

A plastic, handheld dome-shaped magnifier.

It provides 3x magnification. The lens directs light onto the object being

read to make it easier to see. It comes with a protective carry pouch.

Quadstick with Small Offset Base

slow a time for austerity, rationing, housing shortages and conservative

enormous growth in consumer goods and the rise of youth culture

linked to styles of music and dress, most notably the Teddy Boys with

their rockabilly hairstyles and brothel creeper shoes. Fun was in the air.

Qwirkle Category: Activities

Qwirkle is as simple as matching colours and shapes, but this game

also requires tactical manoeuvres and well-planned strategy.

Earn points by building rows and columns of blocks that share a

common shape or colour. Look for opportunities to score big by placing

a tile that touches multiple pieces with matching attributes.

The player with the most points wins!

Qwirkle consists of 108 wooden blocks with six different shapes in six

different colours. There is no board; players simply use an available flat

surface.

Benefits: Qwirkle can be played as a soothing individual activity or as

a fun social game. Matching the shapes and colours included provides

a strategic sorting activity which promotes initiative and learning in

persons with dementia.
