File Type Color Method

*.stl None (white)

*.ply Vertex

Vertex Color

• Applies color only on a vertex

• Extends along adjacent edges

• Each vertex has an XYZ coordinate and an RGB value

– X, Y, Z, R, G, B

– Ex: 1,3,5 203,17,135

• Limited by mesh density

• Need high poly count to have an acceptable color resolution

Texture Color

• Applies image to a surface

• 3 types

1. Image Projection

2. Image Wrapping

• Best for Flat objects

• Image projected straight onto the surfaces behind it.

• Image distorts as expected if not on parallel surface.
