2018 BMDCA National News
The BMDCA National Specialty returns to Nashoba Valley in 2018. After many months of hard work, the Site Selection Committee has tentatively identified Sturbridge, MA as the locale for the event.
Many of us have fond memories of the 1998 and 2008 Nationals which the Club hosted at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick. Once again, this venue was a strong contender in the selection process and remains as the back-up site should any last minute show-stoppers emerge at Sturbridge.
Heeding the voice of the Club members and their desire to try a different site, the Sturbridge Host Hotel at Cedar Lake has been chosen. The Host Hotel has been the site of other breed club National Specialties and offers a serene and scenic option.

Outdoor cover is limited to the chapel and the gallery so shade tents are a good idea. Also bring a chair for yourself or a picnic blanket to lounge on. There is access to water for dogs to drink, but bringing it is a good idea as well.
10-12pm Arrivals – get acquainted with the grounds and take a short walk to upper area.12-1:30pm Barbecue – you bring it – a grill master will be on hand. Please bring a side dish and your own drinks. We have paper products.1:30-3pm Group Photo is planned. Individual Photos available at the most scenic spot in Vermont! We ask for a small donation for photos of your choice to go to either B.E.R.N.E.R. Inc., or the AKC Health Fund. A Big Berner Turnout for the Rescue Parade
When we began sending out invitations to the Rescue Parade—thanks to the online assistance of Jack Merithew—we didn’t know how many Berners to expect. How excited we were when almost thirty Berner people RSVP’d a yes! And some of the honored rescue Berners came with their canine companions as well as their people. It made for a large, joyous turnout.
The Rescue Parade was also a reunion for Berner, Inc. volunteers with past and recent adoptees. Berners who had been adopted as long as 8 years ago and as recently as 8 weeks ago attended. The Berners ranged in age from 1 year to 13 years. Our “Grand Marshall” was Moose, a young Berner
confidently leading the parade attached to his “Eddie’s Wheels.” Some of the rescue Berners had weathered illnesses and disabilities of their own. Many had come into rescue with behavior issues—shyness and fear being a prominent one. But all of them have come far due to the love and care of their adopters. Berner, Inc. was beaming with pride and joy at the sight of these special rescued Berners walking with their exceptional adopters.

June 27th Classic Summer Picnic

Absolutely perfect day for an ocean visit! We had 87 folks with about 55 berners - from 4 months to 12 3/4’s years - join us for our summer picinic. Many brought a dish or two to share for a beautiful spread of summer eats. A wonderful way to start the summer!

He is the biggest snuggler and relentlessly tries to get our cat, Dinky, to join in on the fun (though she’s not usually up for it). He loves playing with other dogs, especially small ones... Probably because he thinks he is lap-sized!

My husband, Chris, has grown up with Berners, and I fell in love with the breed when I first visited my in-laws. There’s always more than 1 Berner in their home! Cava loves every person and dog she meets and playing with her toys while getting belly rubs. She’s a good puppy, and we love to spoil her!
