The 400-acre campus is located at the base of Mount Everett (2,624 ft.) in Sheffield, Massachusetts, in the heart of the Berkshire Hills, a popular tourist destination for world-renowned arts and culture and spectacular nature. Berkshire is characterized by a close-knit community where everyone knows everyone else and relationships are meaningful. Students are invested in their relationships with each other and with the faculty. All of Berkshire’s constituencies work hard to build an environment that is competitive and compassionate, confident and humble, purposeful and spontaneous.

The LEED Gold certified Bellas/Dixon Math and Science Center provides students with state-of- the-art technology, such as 3D printers, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in a first-rate research environment comparable to the country’s top research facilities.

Berkshire’s 10 Signature Programs—Advanced Math/Science Research, Advanced Humanities Research, STEAM, Pro Vita Winter Session, Sabin Entrepreneurial Prize, Aviation Science, Independent Study, Black Rock Scholars, Sustainability, and Ritt Kellogg Mountain Program—are all designed to expand minds, provide real-world experiences, and help distinguish students in an increasingly competitive college process.

Berkshire School is located in scenic Sheffield, Massachusetts, along the banks of the Konkapot River and at the foot of two mountains: Mount Everett and East Mountain. Known for its great natural beauty, the Berkshires is home to myriad hiking trails, nature preserves, and iconic, artsy New England towns. The Berkshires was named among the 200 Last Great Places by The Nature Conservancy and is a wonderful place to live and visit.

Notable for its artistic culture, the Berkshires includes art museums such as the Norman Rockwell Museum, the Clark Institute, the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Williams College Museum of Art. The Tanglewood music Center in Lenox is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, where picnickers can lounge on the lawn and listen to the strains of one of the best classical ensembles in the country. Summer stock theater and dance festivals, such as the Williamstown Theatre Festival, the Barrington Stage Company, the Berkshire Theatre Festival, and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, are eagerly attended by residents and visitors alike.

Approximately 2.5 hours from Boston and New York City and 1.5 hours from Albany and Hartford, the school is centrally located and accessible to several highways and airports. Nearby Great Barrington, MA (named 2012 “Best Small Town in America” by Smithsonian magazine), Lenox, MA, and Salisbury, CT, are frequent destinations for residential students and faculty.

Charming, peaceful, and quintessentially New England, the Berkshires is a wonderful place to call home.
