BENJAMIN PICKMAN MANN

Beniamin Pickman Mann, one of the founders of the Cam-bridge Entomological Club and its first secretary and editor ofits iournal "Psyche", died March 22, 1926. He was born April30, 1848, the son of Horace Mann, well known as a teacher andadvocate of public schools. He graduated from Harvard Collegein 1870 and for several years lived in Cambridge, where meetingsof the Entomological Club were held at his residence in 1874.In 1881 he entered the Entomological Bureau of the U. S. De-partment of Agriculture at Washington and in 1887 became anexaminer in the U. S. Patent Office. He was specially interestedin entomological literature and bibliography, and while editorof Psyche, a record of entomological publications occupied alarge part of the iournal. While in Washington he took part inmany organizations for social and public work. He was one ofthe Childrens’ Guardians of the City, trustee of a church, memberof the Single Tax Association and of the Esperanto Assoeio.
