ABOUT FISHER HOUSE FOUNDATION: Fisher House Foundation is best known for a network of over 60 comfort homes where military and Veterans families can stay at no extra cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. Located at major military and VA medical centers nationwide, Fisher Houses have up to 21 suites with private bedrooms and baths and offer a common kitchen area, laundry facilities, a warm dining room and an inviting living room for guests to share. Fisher House Foundation ensures there is never a lodging fee. Since its inception in 1990, the program has saved more than 250,000 military and veterans’ families an estimated $282 million in out-of-pocket costs for lodging and transportation and has offered over 5.5 million days of lodging.

Fisher House Foundation also operates the Hero Miles program which uses donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of injured service members. To date, over 58,000 airline tickets have been provided by Hero Miles saving service members and their families an estimated $88 million.

ABOUT CHARLESTON FISHER HOUSE: The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, located in historic downtown Charleston, is one of the most highly rated VA hospitals in the country. The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center serves more than 4,500 veteran inpatients annually from 22 coastal counties from Myrtle Beach, SC to Savannah, GA. Charleston is a beautiful tourist location – with that comes high dollar nightly accommodations.

That is why Fisher House Charleston is essential. The Fisher House Charleston project will provide a comfortable refuge for families of patients at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. Fisher House Charleston will relieve the burden of costly hotel stays so that families can focus on what is really important: visiting their family member in the hospital and not having to sleep in their vehicles or in the patients’ hospital room.

ABOUT THE FISHER HOUSE GOLF CLASSIC: In its 13th year, the Golf Classic is the major fundraising event for Fisher House Foundation, having raised over $850,000 in each of the past two years and more than $7 million since it began. The tournament attracts over 50 corporate sponsors, up to 288 players, and participation from senior military, Members of Congress, and Wounded Warriors who join together to help Fisher House Foundation fulfill its mission. The funds raised from the 2016 Fisher House Golf Classic will help provide funding for the new Fisher House Charleston in Charleston, SC.
