Being well organized and self-motivated along with my vibrant and dynamic personality allows me to ensure that I am willing and capable to work quickly and efficiently. I possess excellent communication skills and am able to relate to a wide range of people, as proven by my varied work experience in retail, industry and research. Southampton university has allowed me to explore the areas of physics I find most interesting, because of this I have a deep understanding of the energy industry (generation, distribution and new technologies), sustainable energy systems and the nuclear industry, which I hope to put to use in my future career. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS 2011-2015 University of Southampton, MPhys Master of Physics, 1 st 1 st Year Modules: Introduction to Astronomy and Space Science: 56% Physics of the Solar System: 73% Waves, Light and Quanta: 69% Energy and Matter: 64% Motion and Relativity: 69% Introduction to Mathematical Methods: 72% Mathematical Methods for Physical Scientists: 72% Electricity and Magnetism: 77% 2 nd Year Modules: Quantum Physics: 83% Wave Physics: 78% Python Computing and Laboratory skills: 81% Mathematical Methods For Scientists: 93% Classical Mechanics: 97% Medical Physics: 73% Electromagnetism: 78% Quantum Physics of Matter: 72% 3 rd Year Modules: Crystalline Solids: 64% Atomic Physics: 82% Vector calculus and complex analysis: 74% Dissertation: 72% Nuclei and Particles: 62% Applied Nuclear Physics: 73% Computer techniques in Physics: 72% Theories of Space, Time and Matter: 83% 4 th Year Modules: MPhys Project, Inertial Confinement Fusion: 76% Cosmology and the Early Universe: 75% Introduction to Energy Technologies, Sustainability and Environment: 70% Sustainable energy systems, resources and usage: 72% Nuclear Energy Technology: 70% Particle Physics: 68% Main skills developed: Written and verbal communication skills: I have completed many presentations, essays and projects which have greatly enhanced my ability to listen and convey complex information correctly and confidently. My third year dissertation and accompanying group work on “the prospects for fusion energy” and also the numerous projects I have undertaken during my 4 th year, have greatly enhanced these skills and also given me valuable experience in writing scientific reports and presenting findings on a technically advanced subject. Technical ability: Completion of 1 st and 2 nd year labs has taught me the correct usage of instrumentation and reinforced my experimental skills. Problem Solving: Applying the concepts I have been taught in lectures through group projects and a series of laboratory experiments. Computing skills: Having regularly used the computer programming languages Python, MATLAB and a small amount of C to solve physics problems and simulations has increased my interest in computing while also adding to my already proficient IT skills.
