Answer: to provide information or to give directions

2. What types of organizational patterns are used for expository writing?

Answer: Description, sequence, comparison/ contrast, cause/effect, problem/solution

3. Should the writer attempt to persuade with an opinion?

Answer- no! The facts with well developed support are all you need, not your opinions.

1. Is expository writing fiction or non-fiction?

Answer: non-fiction

2. How would an expository paragraph be structured?

Answer: Just like any other well developed paragraph!

• Topic Sentence- state a main idea based on fact

• Body of Supporting Sentences- provide facts,, examples, or steps in a process

• Concluding Sentence- summarize the main idea and add a strong ending

3. If I am using information written by someone else, how do I present it without plagiarizing?

Answer- put the information in quotations, paraphrase, and refer to the source.
