This group of students were in Year 7 when I arrived and I have had the privilege of seeing this group of students mature into some great student leaders for Bell P-10 State School and set fine examples for our younger students. Completing Year 10 at a P-10 state school is a special experience as you say farewell to one school and hello to another. I had the privilege of completing my schooling at a P-10 school at Inglewood and knowing the excitement of fin- ishing one stage of your schooling life and the excitement and nervousness starting another the next year. I am sure the education our Year 10 students have received here will hold them in good stead whatever the future may hold. Thank you to Sarah, Ben, Bryce, Harry, Dean and Mitchell for your hard work and effort you have put in here at Bell and I am sure the fu- ture will be very successful for you and what- ever path you take. Dear family and friends of Bell P-10 State School,

Year 9/10 Transition for 2019 Last week, Year 8’s and 9’s spent some time experiencing and discussing the different subject electives they can choose from for 2019. We also spent some time discussing the new ‘Queensland Certificate of Education’ (QCE) system. While the QCE is focused on Year 11 and 12, we want students to be aware of what is ahead of them so that their transition to senior sec-ondary is smooth. We advise that the best preparation is en-gaging in their Year 9 and 10 Australian Curriculum studies with rigour and effort. Subject selection forms are due in this Friday 23rd November. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Rachel Pascoe

Skill Term 4, Week 8: RESILIENCE – “Valuing My Strengths”

Context All Settings

Intro-duction

As young people grow older they feel the overwhelming need to “fit in” and question whether who they are and how they look is ‘right or wrong’. When young people feel they can’t live up to the so called “norm” they feel isolated, lonely and not good enough. They start to focus on things that they aren’t or don’t have, rather than what they are and do have. This lesson focuses on identifying their strengths and appreciating individual strengths. Recognising it is okay to be different.

Eco Schools Green Flag Award On Friday 16th, Mr Best, a previous coordinator of the first Eco-Schools Committee, travelled all the way from Sydney to our school to assess our Eco-school’s committee and program in hopes of achieving the Green Flag Award. The committee presented a short explanation of their roles and a tour of all the Eco-Schools’s facilities including the garden, notice board and the worm farms. From the start we continually received the memo that we had a good chance and on Tuesday 20th, we received some amazing news from Mrs McGuire. This was a fantastic outcome as we are the second school in Australia to achieve this award and the first P-10 state school. The Eco-school Committee from not only this year but the years before took a great part in this and we are truly thankful and we couldn’t have done it without the motivation and sup-port from, Mrs McLaren, Mrs McGuire and Mr McNaughton.
