Step 5 (pre-intermediate) in speaking and listening Step 6 (intermediate) in reading and writing are equivalent to an OCN level 2, duration
30 weeks followed by assessment. Step 7 (upper-intermediate) is equivalent to GCSE, duration 32 weeks.
Step 8 (pre-advanced level) is equivalent to AS level or Advanced Conversation; learners must have gained at least grade C GCSE to advance to this step.
Step 9 (advanced level) is equivalent to A2 Level or a DELE- Diploma B1 and is open to anyone who has completed step 8 or equivalent.

ILM Level 3 Leadership & Management Ideal for individuals who have management responsibilities but no formal training and are serious about developing their abilities. Level 3 particularly supports practising team leaders who seek to move up to the next level of management, and managers who need to lead people through organisational change, budget cuts or other pressures. It also supports new or aspiring team leaders - helping them make the transition from working in a team to leading a team.
ILM Level 5 Leadership & Management
Designed for practising middle managers, helping them to develop their skills and experience, improve performance and prepare for senior management responsibilities. A broad range of units cover skills in six core areas – working with people, managing self, providing direction, facilitating innovation and change, achieving results, and using resources.
Flexibility in unit choice in each of the ILM Level 3 and Level 5 Award, Certificate and Diploma qualifications allow the programmes to be tailored to meet the business needs of individual employers.
ILM Level 7 Leadership & Management Designed for senior managers and leaders seeking to develop themselves and their personal brand, but who also recognise the need to satisfy various stakeholders in business.
This one unit Certificate programme will include making the best use of resources, understanding the need to innovate and optimise performance, and presenting arguments for change.
The three unit Diploma will include constructing a high level business case aligned with a high performance culture, leading change implementation and evaluating the impact of that change. Both Level 7 Certificate and Diploma programmes are delivered through a combination of strategically focused Masterclasses, online support and executive coaching.
