funding for Egg project In 2013 CPA applied for 23m for six layer
houses
Only 12m was approved for three layer houses
Strategic partner funded the fourth house as well as production capital
By June 2014 all layer houses were completed & enterprise was in full production.

Production
Each house with a capacity of 15000 birds
Each house is 110m (length) x 6m(width)
Buy chicks at 16wks & start production at 18wks until 60wks
At the end of 60wks we sell them as they are part of our projected income
Selling of chicken manure
Feed consumption of 1.75tons per house
Standby generator of 250KVA 8
Production
Production rate of 90% & mortality rate of 2%
System is environmentally controlled Eggs sold through off-take agreement
with an established egg producer & distributor called “Eggspert eggs”
EIA for 18 houses has been registered Plans are now underway to built another
four houses Approximately 1.7m eggs supplied per
month

Job Creation & Empowerment
Out of the four enterprises up to 80
people are permanently employed &
200 are seasonal workers.
CPA collaborates with Agriseta for
learnership programmes.
CPA exco trained on issues of
governance & management
Plans are underway to plug in
distressed CPA’s in the area to our
