UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONSGUIDELINES THAT PROTECT PEOPLE FROM DISEASES SPREAD BY BLOOD AND BODY FLUIDS

1. Wear disposable latex gloves2. Wash hands with soap & water after

removing gloves.3. Cover open wounds & avoid contact

with other person’s blood.4. Dispose of bodily fluids from victim.5. Don’t touch your mouth, eyes, or nose

while caring for person.

WHEN TO CALL 911STAY CALM, BE SPECIFIC (CAN’T TRACE EXACTLY ON CELL PHONES), DON’T HANG UP UNTIL THEY HANG UP, DON’T PRANK (75% AREN’T REAL EMERGENCIES!)

1. Confusion or loss of consciousness2. Difficulty breathing3. Chest/abdominal pain that won’t go

away4. Severe bleeding that won’t stop5. Vomiting blood6. Seizure or severe headaches7. Slurred speech8. Head, back, or neck injuries

Good Samaritan Law – protects people who give first aid as long as they act responsibly and use good judgment.

If conscious ask if you can help.

If it is a child or they are unconscious – it is implied consent that you can help.
