BEHAVIOURSUPPORTAt Astrea Academy Sheffield we will support our pupils who are experiencing behavioural,emotionalorotherdifficultiesthatmightimpedeself-disciplineandeffectivelearning.Asstatedpreviously, we believe themost effectiveway ofmanaging behaviour is to praise and rewardgoodbehaviour.Thereareavarietyofmechanismsavailablewithearlyinterventionalwaysouraim.Where pupils are having difficulty conforming to the expected standards of behaviour variousstrategiesmaybeemployedtohelpthemimprove.Theuseofthedailyreportform:Althoughasanction,thisservesadualpurposeofenablingformtutors,HeadsofDepartmentorVicePrincipal tocheckonbehaviourandgive instant feedbackandencouragementwhere improvements areevident. Other agencies such as social services, housing,voluntaryorganisations,thecareersservice,couldalsobeinvolvedasappropriate.Indrawinguptheplantheschoolwill,indiscussionwithothers:

Thesystemforissuingdetentionsissimpleandtransparent.Thereare2typesofdetentioninAstreaAcademySheffield:20minutelatedetentionsatlunch;centraldetentionsafteracademyhours(20,30,60,120minutes).Everydetentionshouldberecordedintherelevantdetentionpageinthepupilplanner.1. Latedetentions

• Ifapupilarriveslateafter8.25inthemorning,thepupilwillsigninlateandadetentionwillbewrittenintheirplannerforthatday.

• Pupilswillgotodetentionatthebeginningoflunch.Itwilllast20minutes.• Pupilswhofailtoattendthisdetentionwillhavea1hourdetentionissued• Pupilswhoarelatetwiceinoneweekwillsita2hourdetentiononaFriday
