If you met your partner on social media, what does their profile say about them? Social media is a filtered perception of ourselves. We display the sides we want the world to see. If you don’t like what you see, don’t go looking for something better hidden inside of them because the most important things are already showing.

Always meet a person for the first time in a public, safe place. Good idea example: a dining hall or restaurant. Bad idea example: Your room or theirs.

Consider what you want in a relationship right now and what values are most important to you. There are literally thousands of people available at just this university ….don’t waste your time on that one cute person who you know will never work out but you’re in denial because they’re good looking. Find someone who really clicks with you.

You don’t always have to rush to commit. You have your whole life to be committed to someone. Spend some time truly figuring out who you are and enjoying the single life while you can. It’s a lot cooler to be 20-something and single than 40-something and living with your cats and wondering where your college years went.

If you’re in a relationship, enjoy it! Life is too short not to be happy.
