BECOME A LEADER FOR BETTER HEALTH CDSMP Lay Leader Training
The Valdosta YMCA is currently recruiting Lay Leaders to facilitate Chronic Disease Self Management Program (CDSMP) workshops. CDSMP is an evidence-based program developed by researchers at Stanford University. As a CDSMP lay leader, individuals would be trained to lead workshops, which cover subjects such as medication management, communication skills, problem solving, goal setting, handling difficult emotions, healthy eating, and physical activity. Two trained lay leaders facilitate the workshops in various community settings.
Training to become a lay leader is free of charge and the Y has a training scheduled for November 10th - 11th, and 17th - 18th with lunch provided.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer lay leader may contact Cheryl Maddox to sign up for training.
