Seniors Make Pilgrimage to the Shrine of

Our Lady of Guadalupe

Each year several seniors elect to participate in a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse. The trip was held on Oct 19 and was led by Beckman Theology teacher, Tony Digmann and Beckman Chaplain, Fr. Dole.

Only a few years old, this campus boasts an engineering and artistic marvel in the main church up on the bluffs south of the city. The area also features outdoor prayer areas such as the Memorial to the Unborn, Stations of the Cross, and Rosary Walk. The students enjoyed a tour of the main church with a special showing of the 54 rank organ, prayer and devotional time, optional confession, and Mass celebrated with our chaplain, Fr. Dole and other pilgrims at the Shrine.

Spanish and Art Trip to Chicago

On Monday, October 5th, the Spanish 4 and Art 4 students traveled to Chicago for a day-long field trip. Mr. Leemhuis , Mr. Wade and Mrs. Koetz supervised the trip. The Pilsen section is home to many Mexican restaurants, bakeries, shops and the Mexican Museum of Fine Art. The group visited historic St. Adalbert Cathedral, ate at the Nuevo Leon Restaurant, and enjoyed a guided tour of the Mexican Museum of Fine Art. From there they traveled to the Art Institute of Chicago.

Students and Dyersville Community Participate in Right to Life Activities

More than eighty adults and students lined Highway 136 in front of Beckman Catholic High School at part of the national Life Chain on Oct. 4. People gathered from 2:00 to 3:00 throughout the United States to pray for a greater respect for life and an end to abortion.

On Oct. 14 for “40 Days for Life” in October, 29 Beckman Students for Life prayed the rosary in front of Planned Parenthood as a peaceful protest of the tele-med abortions performed in Dubuque. Faculty advisors also present were Kim Koetz, Cheryl Kluesner, and Mary Kluesner.

Katherine Grebner (partially hidden), Will Brehm, and Evan Schlarmann pound white crosses into an area in front of Beckman Catholic High School, while Jordan Hellle, Haley LeGrand and Rachael Herbers strategically place other crosses. Students for Life erected the crosses to symbolize the thousands of lives in their generation lost to abortion.

The “Students for Life” which consists of both Beckman and other area-school students will travel to

Washington D.C. in Jan 2016 to participate in the March for Life Walk and Rally. March for Life began as a

small demonstration and has grown to be the largest pro-life event in the world.

The day was filled with the hands on activities of water testing, butterfly tagging, and a prairie walk. Students were also able to spend time investigating the interactive exhibits at the nature center and walk among the live wildlife display that featured animals native to Iowa.

Mrs. Hogan also led a group of students in water testing. Each group of students was given a specific task as it related to water testing and their results were shared and discussed at the end of the session.
