Express Subject Combinations for 2019 When choosing the subject combination for Secondary 3 (2019), students only need to indicate their choices represented by the respective codes for each combination. The choices are to be ranked according to the order of preference. Students are strongly encouraged to opt for combinations that are within their academic capability. During the Streaming Exercise, students will be offered the subject combination based on

1. their academic performance in Secondary 2 (based on the overall results in 2018) 2. their choice of combination 3. the number of students opting for the combination and 4. the availability of school resources

If a student is not offered his/her first choice due to any of the above reasons, the school will consider subsequent choices made by the student. INSTRUCTIONS FOR EXPRESS STREAM For the Express Stream, students can select from the 6 main groups of subject combinations. It is important that students opting for Pure Science combinations (Group A, B and C) should include Combined Science combinations (Group D, E and F) as well. Students who only want to opt for Combined Science combinations do not necessarily need to include Pure Science combinations in their choices. worlds and explore, examine, and reflect on both current and timeless issues, as well as their individuality and humanity. The study of literary texts both sharpens and broadens students’ minds. The critical thinking skills uniquely offered by the study of Literature include: • cultivating a questioning mind; • exploring personal and social issues; and • interrogating and managing ambiguities and multiple perspectives. Literature also builds in students socio-cultural sensitivity and awareness, as well as a global outlook, by offering opportunities for them to explore a wide range of literary texts written in different contexts and from various parts of the world, connecting them to other ages and cultures. involves the recording and processing of business transactions, and communicating the information to stakeholders. The accounting information is used to evaluate business performance and facilitate decision-making. What sets the accountancy profession apart is the responsibility to act in the public’s interest. Principles of Accounts is designed to provide students with a meaningful basic introduction to financial accounting and to develop an appreciation of the discipline of accounting. It is grounded in preparing, communicating and using financial information, and appreciating the need for ethical conduct. followed a course of study that emphasises on designing involving research, reasoned application of knowledge and skills in the areas of design and technology. Pupils will need to acquire design techniques and strategies, and have a sound working knowledge of the plastics, metal and wood, and the three technological areas, namely Structures, Mechanisms and Electronics.
