System Sensor Model BEAM1224isafour-wireconventionalreflectedbeamsmokedetector,whichisuniquelysuitedforprotectingopenareaswithhighceilings,whereothermethodsofsmokedetectionaredifficulttoinstallandmaintain.ItistobeusedwithULListedcompatiblecontrolpanelsonly.Anadvantageofthissingle-endedreflectivedesignisthatitismucheasiertoinstallthanthedual-endedprojectedbeamdetectors.Alignmentisquicklyaccomplishedviaanopticalsightandatwo-digitsignalstrengthmeterincorporatedintotheproduct.AnotheradvantageoftheBEAM1224isthatitislistedforoperationintemperaturesrangingfrom–22°Fto131°F.Thismeansitcanbeusedinopenareastoprovideearlywarninginenvironmentswheretemperatureextremesmayexceedthecapabilityofothertypesofsmokedetectors.

BEAM1224consistsofatransmitter/receiverunitandareflector.Whensmokeenterstheareabetweentheunitandthereflector,thesmokecausesareductioninthesignal.Whenthesmokelevelreachesthepredeterminedthreshold,analarmisactivated.

BEAM1224hasfourstandardsensitivityselections,alongwithtwoAcclimate™settings(adjustablesensitivity).WhenoneofthetwoAcclimatesettingsisselected,thedetectorwillautomaticallyadjustitssensitivityusingadvancedsoftwarealgorithmstochoosetheoptimumsensitivityforthespecificenvironment.

BEAM1224Sisalsoequippedwithanintegralsensitivitytestfeature,whichconsistsofatestfilterattachedtoaservomotorinsidethedetectoroptics.WhentheremoteteststationRTS451/RTS151isused,themotorisactivatedandmovesthefilterintothepathwayofthelightbeam,totestthedetector’ssensitivity.ThisintegralsensitivitytestfeatureallowstheusertoquicklyandeasilymeettheannualmaintenanceandtestrequirementsofNFPA72.7260-1209:228 54-04-E 21653017888S911
