Sam’s NoteThank you for your interest in Bringing Educational Assistance to Many Inc. For 5 years BEAM

Inc. has been dedicated to creating awareness about the poor state of public education in

Nigeria and our vision is to effect positive change in the country’s public education system.

Our entire team is very passionate about this cause and I am honored to be a part of an organization that touches the lives and increases the chances of school enrollment for children living in rural communities in Nigeria. It is truly a unique and humbling experience!

The year 2012 was another great year for BEAM Inc. We welcomed some amazing youth with exceptional energy to the team and we continue to be thrilled by all of their individual contributions to the team. The entire team worked extremely hard to see that we could enhance the education hundreds of children were getting from their local school.

However, we recognize none of our work would be possible without your support and donations. We truly appreciate it.

In 2012, we continued to widen our capacity and looked for different ways to provide more sustainable assistance to the communities we visit.

So more than knocking on offices and asking questions, we designed a program that allows for BEAM Inc. to work with local authorities in making the learning facilities suitable for the children.

During one of my many interactions with the local government officials, a top

officer boldly told me, “when it comes to primary education, the local and state govern¬ment are handicapped”. At first this was hard to believe, but after a few days residing in the poorer communities of Nsukka, I realized the harsh reality of

the poor education system that existed for less privileged families.

We are genuinely aware of how vast the issue at hand is and despite the challenges, our passion will continue to drive us in achieving our mission and vision as an organization.

BEAM Inc. is passionate about enriching these youth with educa¬tion, hope, and a better community. It is this passion ingrained in our team members that makes each and every one of them amazing.

Enlightening young mindsAs scheduled, in early January 2013, BEAM Inc. began rebuilding Community Primary School Amagu/Umoarua, Obukpa Nsukka Enugu Nigeria. Upon completion of the rebuilding project, we gathered the students from CPS Amagu/Umoarua, CPS Ajouna and Central Primary School Obukpa and distributed school supplies. Each of the 700 children was provided with brand new backpacks, 20 notebooks, some pens, pencils, sharpeners, erasers and rulers. At the community event on the 28th of January 2013, we encouraged parents and locals to value education and play an increased role in encouraging their children.

2013 will bring further enhancements to the way we assist and contribute to the public education sector in Nigeria. We are excited about the great work that lies ahead of us and we’ll continue to grow because we strongly believe that these little acts of kindness go a long way in positively affecting many families. The big smiles and the awakened hope we see in children, parents, and the community at large are the simple reasons why we continue to strive to exceed our goals each year.

In closing, I want to sincerely thank all of our supporters, donors and volunteers for contributing to the continued success of the organization. We will continue our work of providing educational assistance to many by volunteering our time, skills and financial resources so that the next generation of leaders can have the chance to achieve their potential.

Thank you for being a part of our journey.

Sincerely,Samuel Goda Chujor,FounderBeam Inc.

Nigeria’s education has reached a level, which deserves the declaration of a state of emergency (Birma, 1998).” According to statistics, about one third of Nigerian children are not in school. Sadly, this has been ignored and unnoticed by many and it has become a harsh, painful reality. It begs the question, if children are the future, then what future holds for the Nigerian children in public schools?
