What is a hero?A hero isn’t someone who has superpowers. A hero is someone who gives back. A hero is YOU. If there’s one person who can make a change, who can help people who are suffering, that’s you. Relief Ink is created with the purpose of letting you take part on the efforts to help people in need. It let’s you empower your inner hero while enjoying the privilege of looking good and living a normal life.

Imagine how many smiles you can put on people’s faces only by buying a piece of clothing that benefits one cause. Now imagine what could happen if you contribute to three causes. What’s great about Relief Ink is that according to your likes, you’ll choose the clothing that belongs to one of three lines. The blue, green, and gold lines contribute to water, food and money for disaster victims respectively, just by buying a piece of clothing. With Relief Ink, your style defines the way you help.

The Gold Line

Relief Ink. lets you help disaster victims by contributing to the life lines. Each piece of clothing will belong to either the blue, gold, or green line. With the blue line, you will give water to communities suffering from disasters that are cut off from their water supplies. You can also help rebuild the structure of communities by buying clothes that belong to the gold line. Last, is the green line, which you can use to give food to those people that can’t access a daily plate of food after being affected by a disaster.

The style of the green line is inspired by the concept of Relief Ink and the green line itself. Using earthly tones and a bohemian style, the outfits are casual but appealing at the same time.

The inspiration for this line comes from the way it gives help. Being Relief Ink’s most formal line, the Gold Line uses the gold color to beautify its clothing. It allows you to help rebuild communities while enjoying the privilege of attending to your usual events.

DSYW was founded 10 years ago by Chris Irbin. Just out of college, Chris, annoyed with the conformed way society dressed, aimed to nd a way to help peoplestand out. Over the course of a year, Chrisgained the support of a large number of people. With the money his movement acquired, Chris decided to start a clothingstore. When asked what type of clothing the store would sell, Chris Irbin replied “Da shit you wear!”, which would become the store’s tagline. Our clothes feature many pop culture references, so that people can show what they like and are about. DSYW is geared towards delivering clothes to the ones who want to stand out and be unique.

The Speakeasy Story

There once lived a beautiful and vivacious girl. She took great pleasure in growing her wardrobe. She filled it with every style; forever exploring the elegant fashion of the 1920’s. Her col-lection was threatened amidst the tragedy of the great depression. Her family was forced to sell all of their belongings and move to California where her father had found work in an illegal speak-easy to support the family. The thought of abandoning her care-fully collected clothes filled the girl with shock and dismay. What would become of her if she didn’t have her clothing? So, she hid it away in a trunk to protect it from the greedy hands of the 1930’s. Decades passed. The girl became a woman, then a mother, and then a grandmother: her trunk all but forgotten, collecting dust in the attic. That is until her granddaughter stumbled upon the hidden chest of clothing. The girl, much like her grandmother, fell in love with the elegant clothing of the past. But they were just that- clothing from the past, and they didn’t fit well with the styles and trends around today. So, she set to work altering the clothing to fit into today’s world. Soon, her friends and family noticed her chic vintage clothing. Then, complete strangers were bringing her their grandmothers clothing to tailor! Before long, she had her own store and clothing line. She vowed that Speak Easy would tailor clothes for every decade, so no clothes would ever have to be hidden again.

The Roarin’ Twenties 1920’s

This Shirt is inspired but the loose silhoutte of the “flapper” dresses of the twenties. The jeans are a modern take on the carefree attitude of the

party-goers. A feather head band completes the look.

The Turbulent Thirties 1930’s

The 30’s were full of easy shapes and belted dresses. This dress focuses on gathering and is belted at the waist by a fun and modern ribbon. The length has been shortened to make the dress more appropriate for today.

A suit from the 1930’s! The pants have been left as were as to maintain the classic tapered look that was so popular. Wear this with a bright button down to lighten the mood and a fedora will keep that cool

vintage feel!

1940’s

This ensemble was remade from a 1940’s Claire McCardell outfit that featured a long denim coat and a mid calf-length button-up cotton dress. Both the

jacket and the dress have been shortened for a more modern feel! The neckline of the dress has also been altered for a younger person’s appeal. Pair this with

some cute oxfords for a sophisticated fall look!

1940’s

This tweed suit was taken from Churchill’s in the 40’s and has been re-modeled for a more upbeat casual feel! The pants have been made into shorts and the jacket has been made to be more fitted. With an V-neck to dress things down a bit, you’ll be the ultimate urban gentleman!

Walk with the Gods

One day, a man lacking cloth on his back to protect him from the harsh elements wandered around the countryside. He had been abandoned by his fellow man and took refuge in a cave far from the city. Then, a few weeks later, he happened upon an old beggar woman trapped

beneath a boulder. He lifted the boulder from the old woman’s legs. The Gods saw this act of heroism and took favor on the man. That

night he returned to his hovel to spend another cold night in solitude. When he awoke, the Gods had shown how pleased they were by his act that they had granted him the clothing of the Gods themselves.

Thus mankind attained the clothes of the Gods.

ARESGOD OF WAR

The inspiration for the Ares look was the biker look, because the biker look gives an impression of toughness. Ares’ colors are black and red, so the color scheme for the outfit is naturally black and red. The color blocking is intended to add a uniqueness to the outfit.

Page 35: Be Magazine - 2011 Fashion Edition - Volume 2

ARESGOD OF WAR

Hades, god of the underworld, was my main inspiration for this outfit. The red and black color scheme is a representation of the underworld. Since the Underworld, darkness, and red and black are often associ-ated with modern gothic/punk sub-cultures, Gothic and punk subcul-tures were heavy influences on this outfit. It also made the outfit more modern, and made the line appeal to more rebellious young people.

HADESGOD OF THE UNDERWORLD

ARESARTEMISGODDESS OF THE HUNT

The inspiration for this look was the goddess Artemis. Her hunting side was portrayed in this look with the golden strings on the shoulders and the leather belt. This look is meant to be bold yet feminine. The belt is meant to create balance for the fig-ure. The color scheme is very earthy and neutral. The red chosen for the blouse is a very bloody red, so it maintains the earthy color palette found in this look.

APOLLOGOD OF THE SUN

The god Apollo inspired this look. The short and loose blouse gives a very summery feel to this look. The shimmery shorts are golden like the sun and patterned in such way that they contrast with the blouse. The color scheme gives a warm, summery, feeling to it and its meant to be fun and playful.

Page 38: Be Magazine - 2011 Fashion Edition - Volume 2

APHRODITEGODDESS OF LOVE

Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, was the inspiration for this look. Although pink is the most common color used to represent Aphrodite, I used purple in the design due to a lack of pink fabric. The black and silver lace represents glamour and beauty, and makes the outfit sparkle.

Too many companies appeal to just one type of person, our goal is to appeal to the masses. We try to create

cloths for multiple personalities; athletes, goths, fashion types and the just plain casual people. Olympus Wear’s clothing is modeled after the gods of the Greek

pantheon, using their personalities for inspiration.
