Student Leaders 2019

Last Tuesday students who put themselves forward for leadership positions in 2019 presented their speeches to their peers. As always the quality of speeches and presentation styles of many who accepted the challenge to present for leadership was of a very high standard. I believe that the process employed has assisted students to understand and more carefully consider what being a leader requires. Thank you to staff who supported and encouraged students throughout the process. In addition, it was good to see the Years 4 and 5 students listening intently and making notes as each candidate presented their credentials. A secret ballot has been used to determine our student leadership group in 2019. Parent’s and Friend’s Association Congratulations to the Parent’s and Friend’s Association on another very successful year. I would like to thank this group of parents who work hard to provide events for students and families and contribute towards a positive school environment for all.

Grade 6 Graduation

Our graduation celebration for Year 6 students was held last Tuesday evening. Students worked solidly over the last term to prepare for this evening. The evening celebration highlighted special moments of their primary school years through the presentation of prepared speeches and performances for parents and families. Thank you to Cassie, Ellie, Kristy and Pauline, for supporting students as they prepared for this evening and staff who assisted Unit 4 on the night. A wonderful celebration for all who attended. I hope all of our graduating students leave with fond memories of their years at Ascot Vale West and I wish them every success in their future educational journey. A very enjoyable occasion for all who attended.

Chicken, chips and salad was served in the staffroom prior to the ceremony

Grade 5 students made a sweet treat for their Year 6 peers.
