BDAT Staff Survey 2020
Introduction
Why?
• To find out the thoughts, feelings and experiences of colleagues from across the trust with regard to their wellbeing and attitudes.
• By understanding our colleagues we can support and retain our staff.
• By understanding our current staff we can use this understanding to recruit the best new staff to our trust.
• To develop our ambitions with regard to being an Employer of Choice
Methodology
• Survey Monkey (an online tool) was used to generate the survey.
• A link was sent to all staff and reminders followed.
• Data was collected between the 20th January and the 17th February 2020.
Methodology cont.
• Data was tidied up, colleagues who’s responses clearly indicated they were in the ‘wrong’ group were moved.
Responses such as retirement were indicated.
• Quantitative responses were numerically coded and mean scores were calculated for each response and each group. (A lower mean number indicated a more positive response).
A statistical significance of 0.25 was applied to 5 mark questions (5%).
A statistical significance of 0.1 was applied to 2 mark questions (5%).
Any data showing statistal significance was highlighted in the evaluation.
• Qualitative responses for the open questions were analysed using a word cloud. The comments were informally coded to find key words and themes.
Dissemination
• Trust board
• Headteacher groups
• Comments about individual schools with be shared with phase directors and could be shared with Headteachers
• Staff voice workstream
• Talent management workstream
• 668 colleagues engaged with the survey and 67% (448) answered all the questions.
• Colleagues’ responses placed them in the following groups, not all colleagues indicated a group(s).
• Colleagues whose responses had placed themselves in the ‘wrong’ group were moved into their ‘correct’ group for analysis if their responses allowed this.
