The floating toolbar is a set of buttons that floats on top of other programs.  You can customize this tool bar to include the tools you use most frequently.

1.  Press "customize" in the floating tool bar2.  To add a button or remove, press an icon in the box and drag it to the toolbar or back to the dialog back.3.  To rearrange the buttons, drag the icons to new positions.4. To add a column, press the + button.

You can "lock" objects so that they don't move.  This is helpful for activities you make where students move/write on objects.

Click on an object.

Right click.

Three options:1.  Lock in place ­ stops the object from moving2.  Allow move ­ object can be moved but neither rotated nor deleted3.  Allow move and rotate ­ object can be moved and rotated but not deleted.

To unlock or change settings, right click again and choose a different option.

1.  Have the file open and click "Save Page as Gallery      Item"

2.  Browse to the folder where you want to save the page.

3.  Type a name for the page in the File name box.

4.  Press Save.

5.  Select My Content (or one of its subcategories) in the Gallery's category list, press its menu arrow, and then select Add to My Content.

6.  Browse to and select the item that you saved in step 5.

7.  Press Open.

If the Gallery isn't visible, press "Gallery."1.  Select My Content (or one of its subcategories) in the Gallery's category list, press its menu arrow, and then select Add to My Content.2.  The Add to My Content dialog box appears.3.  Browse to and select the item you want to add to the Gallery.4.  Press Open.

NOTE: By default, SMART Notebook names the new Gallery item based on the original file name. If you want to change the item's name, select the Gallery item's thumbnail, press its menu arrow, and then select Rename. Type the item's new name.

Downloading Internet VideosNote that you can only download the video where you have access to the site.  So if you want to download a video from www.youtube.com or other blocked sites, you must complete this process at home.1.  Go to site where video is and copy the video/site address.  Example:  <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v‐IB5iRmklI>2. Go to www.savetube.com3. Paste the video address4. Download the video; the recommended format is MP4.5. To get the video to school, you can:a. Email the video to yourself at school or to an email you can access at school.  Please note ‐ many videos are bigger than allowable file sizes for attachments.b. Save the video to a thumb drive, CD, etc., and bring that to work.N.B. ‐ Be sure to play this video in QuickTime; it will not play in Windows Media Player.

Using existing videos with SMART Video PlayerSMART Video Player enables you play a video on your interactive screen and write notes over it in digital ink. You can play standard video files, or play videos from a connected video hardware device, such as a VCR or DVD player.To start SMART Video Player:  1.  Press the SMART Board icon in the notification area and select.2.  SMART Video Player appears.3.  You can add videos, create playlists.  You can draw on videos, and capture images.

CREATING videos with SMART Video RecorderSMART Video Recorder enables you record anything you do on a screen as well as any commentary you may add with a microphone/headset.  To start SMART Video Recorder1.  Press the SMART Board icon in the notification area and select.2.  SMART Video Recorder appears.3.  You can select the record area.4.  The file will save as a WMV.
