meet the rigors of daily workwear. Apache is a basic RC1 offering that we produce in many colors. It is a staple of

the FR industry and it is comfortable, breathable, and as the natural properties of 100% cotton.

Chickasaw Flex Twill8.5 oz ____ 99% Cotton, 1% Spandex

FR Fabrics with Motion, Created for Comfort FlexTex is Mount Vernon FR’s collection of flame resistant fabrics

developed for increased comfort and mobility. FlexTex fabrics include an elastomeric fiber that allows fabric to flex

up to 14% with a 97% recovery. The elastomeric fiber adds mobility to fabric with no reduction in FR protection,

so workers experience increased freedom and range of motion in their flame resistant clothing. Mount Vernon FR

FlexTex fabrics have a bilateral flex that allows them to elongate sideways and diagonally, eliminating any sagging

in areas that require physical stress in the workplace, this ring spun fabric delivers and yet it still has all of the

natural comfort of Cotton with the added abrasion resistance of Nylon.

Mount Vernon garments can be washed with a wide variety of detergents. Any recognized

commercial laundry detergent that does not contain bleach is satisfactory.

DO NOT USE These Products

We recommend no chlorine bleach. The repeated use of chlorine bleach can strip away the FR

finish. We also recommend no softeners. While most of the commercial softeners on the market have

no effect of the fabric's FR properties, there may be some that will form a coating and

burn. While we cannot check our ever softener, for safety we recommend no softeners. We recommend

no starch as this could cause a surface burn.

Tumble Drying

Tumble Dry on Permanent Press Cycle. Remove when dry and place on hanger.

Ironing

For Industrial Laundry we recommend normal IL Cotton Formula. Water temperature should

not exceed 165ºF/74ºC. As below we recommend no bleach, softeners, or starch.

Dry Cleaning is permitted. Garments must be free of any re-deposition.

In order to perform its protective function, a garment must be maintained in its original

condition. Rips, tears and abrasion to the fabric are normal consequences of use and they should be

Reliant™ with EMC technology is an inherently flame resistant fabric blend of Engineered

Modacrylic fiber, Cotton, and potentially other fiber combinations. Reliant fabrics provide NFPA 1975,

ASTM 1506, and OSHA's CFR 1910.269 compliant state-of-the-art protection in uniforms and

occupational work wear with all the comfort of cotton.

This advisory is intended to offer laundering recommendations to help maintain Reliant

garments flame and arc resistance, comfort, and crisp professional appearance for as long as possible.

First and foremost, it's important to recognize the 3 distinct methods in which Reliant

garments can be laundered:

Care must be taken in adhering to washing temperatures as stated in garment labels and or

hangtags. Cooler washing and drying temperatures are highly recommended for improved garment

fit and wear life.

Following these home laundering recommendations will help preserve your Reliant

garments professional appearance:

Reliant garments should always be washed separately from general family laundry.

Turning garments inside out can result in longer lasting, brighter colors.

For optimum performance, wash at 110-120F maximum!

Use a brand name laundry detergent.

Avoid using fabric softeners and starches because residues of either can burn!

Do not use Chlorine Bleach!!! Use a non-chlorinated bleach if necessary!

Tumble dry using the lowest possible dryer heat setting, typically permanent press.

Touch up with your iron if necessary. The setting should be a very low heat such as Permanent Press.

Garments can be professionally dry cleaned, after examination by a dry cleaning

professional. Care must be taken in the temperatures used to process garments.

This type of care tends to be the harshest, especially to shirts. Elevated washing, drying and

pressing temperatures are used along with starches to achieve a clean, crisp appearance in the

shortest amount of time. Fading, fabric sheen, edge abrasion, collar stays, and interlining impressions

showing through the fabric become apparent earlier and reduce garment life cycle.

Wash and Care Recommendations forPBI Gold® Flame Resistant Garments

PBI Gold® is inherently flame-resistant and this property cannot be degraded by laundering.

PBI fiber has excellent resistance to most acids and alkalis. PBI has excellent resistance to solvents.

PBI Gold® loses strength when exposed to chlorine bleach.

PBI has good resistance to mildew and aging. Prolonged exposure to sunlight will cause

darkening and loss of tensile strength. PBI fiber has fair abrasion resistance, but the PBI Gold® blend

has very good abrasion resistance.

PBI Gold® will not ignite and does not melt. PBI has excellent thermal stability and retains

fiber integrity and suppleness after flame exposure. Molten substance contact with PBI Gold® will

cause pinholing in the fabric.


Wash PBI Gold® garments separately from other apparel to avoid lint contamination that may

contribute to pilling.

Use non-ionic formulas. Do not use natural soaps (anionic or tallow soap) or silicate

supplemented detergents. Use soft water. Hard water precipitates soaps. It also contains calcium and

magnesium salts. These products can build up on the fiber surfaces, coating the fabric and masking

the FR properties.

Do not wash at bath temperatures exceeding 140ºF/60ºC. Use high surfactant, low alkaline

wash chemistry with a pH not exceeding 10. Repeated launderings at temperatures higher than

140ºF/60ºC, especially in combination with pH levels above 10, can result in increased fabric

shrinkage and reduced garment durability.

Chlorine bleach (sodium hypochlorite), whether separate or contained in detergents, must be

avoided. The aramid fiber will be degraded by exposure to chlorine bleach.

Starch, fabric softeners, and other laundry additives can coat the fiber and mask the FR

performance or serve as fuel in case of garment ignition. Therefore their use is not recommended.

Garments should be appropriately soured to a pH level of 5.5 to 6.5.

If garments are heavily soiled with particulate or abrasive soils, a flush at the beginning of

the cycle will help reduce abrasion in the wash wheel. Wash formulas and load sizes should be set up

to minimize redeposition and fabric abrasion.

Temperature step-downs between baths should not exceed 15ºF/9ºC. Cool to 100ºF/38ºC or

less prior to extraction at low speed to help minimize wrinkling.

Condition at a stack setting of 160°F/71ºC or less so fabric temperatures measured in the

basket do not exceed 210°F/99ºC to avoid excessive shrinkage levels. Cool to 100ºF/38ºC or less prior

to removal from the dryer. Do not over dry garments.

Garments constructed from PBI Gold® may be tunnel finished, however settings must be

lower than typical for other type apparel. The measured fabric temperature must not exceed 210ºF

while in the tunnel to avoid excessive fabric shrinkage.

If garments are pressed, the maximum temperature on fabrics must not exceed 210ºF/99ºC.


Wash and Care Recommendations forPBI Gold® Flame Resistant Garments

HOME LAUNDERING

Wash and dry separately to avoid accumulation of lint that may contribute to pilling.

Pre-treat greasy, oily stains and do not overload the washer to help insure removal of soils. If

home procedures do not completely remove all potentially flammable soils, commercial laundering or

dry cleaning should be considered.

Wash in hot (120ºF/49ºC) or warm (105ºF/40ºC) water using any typical home laundry

detergent. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for usage. Do not use tallow soaps.

Do not use chlorine bleach or detergents that contain chlorine bleach. Do not use fabric

softeners or starch on any flame resistant apparel as these can coat fibers and mask the FR

performance.

The use of conditioned or soft water can help improve removal of contaminants from

garments. Hard water precipitates soaps and can result in the build-up of calcium and magnesium

salts. These can serve as fuel in the event they are exposed to a source of ignition.

Do not over dry garments. If pressing is desired, use only a warm setting such as permanent press.

DRY CLEANING

Either perchloroethylene or petroleum solvent can be used. With petroleum, it is necessary to

ensure that all solvent has been completely dried from the garments.

MAINTENANCE

Minor repairs that do not affect the integrity of the garment may be made using like materials

by either heat sealing or sewing on patches or darning small holes.


Wash and Care Recommendations forPBI BaseGuardTM Flame Resistant Garments

COMMERCIAL LAUNDERING AND DRYING

To preserve durability and protect against shrinkage, garments should be washed in cool

or warm water (no more than 105°F/40°C). Repeated washings in hot water, especially water that is

highly alkaline (pH greater than 8) can reduce the garment’s useful life. Never use bleach or fabric

softeners on any FR garment. Wash them separately from other garments to prevent contamination

with lint or other flammable fibers. Flammable contaminants, such as grease, oil, or tar may require

pre-cleaning with a solvent before washing. Labels, emblems and trim should be checked for color

fastness before adopting a washing regimen.

For best results, dry flat or hang dry. When tumble drying PBI garments, the basket

temperature should not exceed 105°F/40°C. Garments should not be over-dried or left in a hot dryer

basket at the end of the drying cycle. To minimize wrinkles, remove and hang immediately after

drying, or tumble without heat to cool garments before hanging.

HOME LAUNDERING AND DRYING

As with industrial laundering, the same warm water temperature guidelines should be

observed at home. Set the machine on the permanent-press cycle and use a heavy-duty detergent. Read

and follow detergent use instructions carefully. Pretreat greasy stains when necessary. Do not use

chlorine bleach, detergents containing chlorine bleach, starch, or fabric softeners. As with all FR

garments, wash PBI garments separately from other clothing.

For best results, dry flat or hang dry. If tumble drying, use permanent press cycle or a medium

temperature setting (low heat) or air tumble dry. Use the cool-down cycle and remove

garments as soon as the tumbler stops. Do not over dry the garments. Use a cool to warm iron when

necessary.

would fit you. Tape should be snug, not tight. Or take a shirt

Measure around fullest part of chest, keeping tape up under

arms and around shoulder blades. Or, lay garment flat;

measure from 2” below underarm to other underarm.

Measure around waist, over shirt (not over slacks) at the
