Comments1. This message is used to provide the post-stow information. It provides all information regarding thestowage of equipment on board a vessel as well as the stowage of ro-ro cargo, breakbulk and othernon-containerized cargo. Another message is to be used to transmit pre-stow information, which is theStowage Instruction Message (MOVINS).

2. These implementation guidelines are those developed by the Shipplanning Message DevelopmentGroup (SMDG), an international user group. These are endorsed by a number of internationalorganizations among which is the ISA. This message has been widely implemented in almost all partsof the world. The current SMDG version is 2.07. It is recommended to use the actual SMDG (September1995) user manual in addition to these guidelines when implementing the BAPLIE message. It shouldbe understood that this version of the implementation guidelines does not yet follow the principlesinternationally agreed upon by the ITIGG. All other messages with the exception of the BAPLIE andMOVINS messages adhere to these principles.

3. Please note that the majority of ISA members are using the BAPLIE Messages for both pre-stow andpost-stow purposes.
