Special Rules

1.  The Villeroi player must occupy Ramillies, Offus, and Autre Eglise. Each area can hold up to one infantry unit.

2.  Taviers is in Dutch hands at the beginning of the game. No actual Unit is placed there. If the French commander attack

the village, the Unit inside the village has a VBU of 2. It takes lossesa s other Units and also follows all cohesion tests

(with adjustments for villages). If the Unit is destroyed, Taviers can be occupied by the French. Note: If at a later stage

real Unit enters the village, the original defenders are assumed to have been replaced.

3.  Villerois camp. The camp was placed too close to the combat area, and caused a great deal of problems when the

French line was turned. The camp must be represented on the table. Any unit moving through it is disordered. Disorder

cumulative, so units already in disorder suffer a VBU loss.

4.   Artillery players may find that the artillery is particularly powerful in this re-fight. It is recommended that only three units

per side are deployed in the 1st

line, with one unit in the second line, acting as reserve. The 2nd

Line unit may move

forward with the rest of the 2nd

Line, never independanty.

5.  Optional Rule.

The battle is famous for Malboroughs masterstroke, pulling his cavalry from the right wing to the left without any action

Villeroi part. Players who wish to attempt a similar or opposite manoeuvre may wish to try this.

••••  Only 1st

Line Units are placed on table. All second line units are represented by a card/paper of same size as a

Unit.

••••  When a Second line unit is within 10cm of an enemy unit, it is placed on table.

••••  The Malborough player may attempt to move one unit per turn from one Second Line card to another. Cards

must be adjacent. The original card remains in place, but the player makes a note that the Unit(s) have moved

an adjacent 2nd

Line Card.

••••  To move a unit is must not be visible, and a discipline test must be passed. If Cadogen is with the Unit, the mo

is automatic. Disordered units may move if they pass a Discipline Test on the first attempt.

••••  Second Line Cards may be fired at, but loss of VBU or disorder does not make them visible.

This rule relies on perfect honesty on the part of the Malborough player, so if temptation is too much - it is recommended that an

Umpire might smooth things along!!
