Battle Bots Rules 2.0Smash and Grab Edition
Battle Arena
R1 R2
By default robots will start facing each other. However, judges may ask for you to startback to back if there has been more than one tie.
Once robots started, team members must stay in team area.
Team 2
Team 1
Some Simple Rules
• Single elimination tournament with best of three for each round.
• One brain per robot. No Exceptions.• Once match has started:– You cannot touch your robot.– You cannot touch the other team’s robot– If you do, you will lose the match
• No harsh language• Be nice to your robot. Be nice to others robot.• Have Fun!!!
Advanced Rules for Advanced Camp
• Each robot must use three motors, two for drive and one for something else– Attack– Additional drive power– Sensor movement
• In other words…– Your robot must use its third motor to either attack the
opponent (“kill saw”, hammer, claw, etc.), provide additional power for forward movement, or use to move the sensor (e.g. sweep the ultrasonics)
More Advanced Rules
• Your robot must be equipped with ultrasonics– Use this to help locate the enemy– Once you see the enemy you can attack, evade, or
whatever– Remember that the ultrasonics can see things outside
the arena• Your robot must be equipped with a line sensor– This should be obvious…you don’t want to go out of
bounds and this is the only sensor to make sure you don’t.
Winning and Losing
• You team wins if:– Your robot pushes the other robot out of the arena
• Any part of opponent robot touches the floor. No exceptions.• Decided by Judge
– Your opponent becomes disabled. • Does not move for at least 30 seconds. • Decided by Judge
• A match is a tie if:– Match exceeds 2 minutes without a winner.– Judges declare a stalemate. No action for over 30 seconds.– After two ties, the referees will start matches with robots back to
back.– If more than four ties, sudden death…first robot to lose a part…loses.
Exhibition Matches
• For tournament, matches will be based upon a tournament bracket. – We play until we have a winner.
• Once we have a winner, we will then allow exhibition matches.– Robot vs. Robot– Three and four robot battles– Battle Royale…lots of robots.
• You pick the matches!!!
