The student composers of Project 21: Music for the 21st Century are committed to creating and performing the music of our time. Since its founding in 1997, Project 21 has premiered more than 900 works in venues on and off campus, including performances at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Creativity World Forum and regional SCI, Inc. conference.

Oklahoma City University’s annual Christmas Vespers concerts in the Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel bring together chamber musicians, members of the OCU Symphony Orchestra and more than 200 singers of the

combined OCU choirs in an eclectic celebration that culminates in a candlelit finale.

Our award-winning Oklahoma Opera and Music Theater Company, under the direction of Dr. David Herendeen, celebrates its 62nd consecutive season in 2013-14. The Company presents 18 performances of six different

operas and music theater works each year. Students also have the opportunity to workshop new pieces and to audition for the student-run company, OCU Stripped.

The OCU Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Benjamin Nilles, interprets scores from the classics to the cutting edge. The 80-member ensemble has won national recognition with an Adventurous Programming Award from ASCAP and the American Symphony Orchestra League, and has represented Oklahoma City and the United States in regional and international performances, including a six-city tour of China.
