BASIQ 2018 Conference Keynote Speakers

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schuster is Chairman of the Executive Board of the non-profit

foundation Deutsche Telekom Stiftung, Vice-President of the non-profit foundation Stuttgart

Institute of Sustainability and Member of the German Council for Sustainable Development.

As Mayor of Stuttgart for 16 years (1997-2013) he promotes outstanding international

initiatives as Cities for Mobility, Cities for Children, Cities for Local Integration Policy and

Cities for Sports. Among other offices he currently holds, he is Chairman of the European

Foundation for Education, Honorary President of the Council of European Municipalities and

Regions (CEMR) in Brussels and Honorary Vice President of the global network United

Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) in Barcelona.

Prof. Dr. Soc.-Wiss. Axel Murswieck is Academic Director of Institute of Political Science

(IPW) of Heidelberg University. He has published 9 books and more than 70 articles and book

chapters, addressing major social and economic concerns from a political science perspective,

with a focus on Germany, the European Union and the United States of America. Since 2003

he is member of the Board of Trustees for the Heidelberg Center Latin America in Santiago

de Chile, also ensuring scientific coordination for the European Politics and International Law

Masters Programs Since 2006 he teaches at the Institute for Political Studies in Paris, as well.

Prof. Dr. Christine K. Volkmann holds the Chair of Entrepreneurship and Economic

Development & UNESCO-Chair of Entrepreneurship and Intercultural Management at

Schumpeter School of Business and Economics, University of Wuppertal, Germany. She is

also the director of the Jackstädt Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research since

2011 and has been an academic advisor for the European Forum for Entrepreneurship Research

from 2007 until 2017. Christine Volkmann is involved in many national and international

entrepreneurship projects in the context of UNESCO, the European Commission and the World

Economic Forum, one example being the development and establishment of a postgraduate

MBA in business management and innovation management at the Bucharest University of

Economic Studies, accredited by the FIBAA in October 2007.

Prof. Dr. René Schmidpeter is Director of the Center for Advanced Sustainable

Management and holds Dr. Ing. Jurgen Meyer Endowed Chair International Business Ethics

and CSR at the Cologne Business School (CBS). He is editor of the management series

Corporate Social Responsibility at Springer Gabler Verlag and the international publication

series CSR, Sustainability, Ethics and Governance at Springer. In addition, he is a CSR

strategist advising on the strategic implementation of sustainable management approaches.

He is also a visiting professor at the Nanjing University of Finance and Economics in China,

scientific director of the Center for Human Market Economy in Salzburg, and member of

expert juries, scientific advisory and international research projects.
