LEVEL HRDF Basic Wastewater Parameters: Analysis and Interpretation for Biological Wastewater Treatment 12 - 13 October 2020 DAY 1 - ONLINE (MS TEAMS) DAY 2 – ATTC Training Centre Sdn Bhd, Damansara Day 1: 9am – 1pm Day 2: 9am – 5pm INTRODUCTION A large amount of wastewater is generated as a result of population growth, cities expansion and industrial development. Treatment of wastewater is often practiced to remove organic matter and nutrients from wastewater using biological treatment systems, typically activated sludge systems. This course will equip the participants with the ability to familiarize with the basic wastewater parameters. It will also cover the operation and maintenance as well as trouble shooting of activated sludge treatment systems. COURSE CONTENT q Introduction to the Course q Wastewater Treatment Units and Processes q Operating Parameters of Activated Sludge Treatment Systems q Operation and troubleshooting of Activated Sludge System q Theory of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) q Theory of Total Suspended Solids, Ammonia, Nitrates, Phosphorus q Laboratory hands-on for basic wastewater parameters, result interpretation and discussion Beginner Claimable Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: q Explain the basic parameters in biological wastewater treatment process. q Explain the working of various activated sludge treatment systems. q Understand the operation and maintenance of activated sludge treatment systems. q Troubleshoot activated sludge treatment problems. OBJECTIVES Course Highlights What are the basic parameters in the biological wastewater treatment process? How does a wastewater treatment plant operate? How do the activated sludge treatment systems function, and also the operational and maintenance mechanism? How to troubleshoot the activated sludge treatment problems? In process applying from IEM CPD Points
