Bart-Jan Boersma LEVEL DESIGNER Bartjanboersma.com “Let’s make a level together.” Project Experience Skye: Over Clear Waters Role: Technical Level, Game & Gameplay Designer Unreal 4 (Team of 15) Sep. 2019 - Present Skye is an openworld arcade flight game, I'm responsible for the creation and implementation of the quest system, individual quests and the openworld layout. Besides this, I'm also responsible for the gamefeel/control of the plane. Notebook Detective Role: Level Design, Puzzle Design Unreal 4 (Team of 23) Feb. 2019 - Jun. 2019 Notebook Detective is a first person point & click game set in the prohibition, solve the murder mystery through the memories of others. I'm responsible for the level design, onboarding and puzzle design. I worked together with the art team to setdress the level. I was the feature team lead for the level. Office Hustle Role: Level Design, Game design Unreal 4 (Team of 11) Feb. 2018 - Jun. 2018 During the creation of Office Hustle I was part of the design team that created a game concept that has the same dynamics as Pacman. I’m responsible for the design of the Camera, Character and Control. I have designed all levels in- cluding onboarding and improved our game trough extensive playtesting and it- erating. About me A Level designer with experience in making levels for games. Sketching and creating blockouts is part of my toolkit. Using my knowledge in visual blueprinting allows me to implement systems I come up with for my levels. I have developed over 10 games since 2017, ranging from solo to team projects with sizes up to 30 developers. I communicate well with all sorts of people. teamwork comes natural to me and I have a passion for creating games that make people smile. Extracurricular Activity Every year I join the Global Game Jam with a different team of people each time. During jams, I switch roles constantly to fit what the jam needs. Game Jams Role: Designer / Artist / Tech Designer 2017 - Present I participate in every open day to actively promote the education. Being a camp dad at the intro camp helped me guide first years with their introduction to the study. This does not stop after the camp, helping them through the education as well. Promotion IGAD Role: Camp Dad, Intro Camp Volunteer, Y1 guide 2017 - Present Hobbies In my free time, I play and collect boardgames. I'm part of our school’s boardgame club. Besides this I also enjoy going to flea markets to find old games/consoles to restore. I also work on side projects and join game jams every year in order to keep learning. I have a glider pilot license and fly gliders monthly at my local glider club. I also enjoy playing the newest games to keep up to date with the current industry/tech. Portfolio AH To Go Role: Team Lead, General employee Apr. 2014 - Mar. 2016 Parttime team lead at AH to Go supermarket. I was responsible for a small team of employees and closing the store. Working in the bakery, behind the counter and filling up the shelves, working mostly night shifts Work Experience Education Breda University of Applied Sciences 2017 - Present I am currently following the Design and Production curriculum. Doing solo and team projects both only design and multi-disciplinary. Up until now I have com- pleted each year combined with an GPA of 3.8 ROC Tilburg for ICT and Media-Technologies 2013 - 2017 Designing logos, websites and corporate identities for real clients during the study, working with clients and going on internships to learn the craft. Finished this study.
