in the past, are dedicated to God in
a beautiful service that includes
the whole congregation. Please call the church office:
436-0462 or email [email protected] if
you wish to participate.

Special Thanks
Thank you to everyone who helped with nut picking. We had around 40 people show up
over the course of the day to help shell pecans for the turkey dinner. We extend a special
thanks to Diane Stone for supplying both lunch and dinner to the crew.
Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for the visits and cards you have sent me during my recovery. The
church family has been such a wonderful support and I thank you for everything you have
done. Bless You All
David Tarver
Thanks for all the prayers and cards. I am home and improving each day.

Church Growth & Hospitality
Invites YOU to join us! It‟s time
for our first meeting of the new
church year. You are personally
invited to some to a „kick-off‟
meeting for some brainstorming
and sharing of some exciting
things to happen at Barry. I am
looking forward to a 3 year com-
mitment for this committee, and
hope you will consider what you
can offer Barry with your God
given gifts of helping us reach out
to our neighbors and past and
present members. If you have a
passion for getting involved with
a one time project, or assisting
from home in some capacity, I
hope you will contact me. As a
member of Barry, I hope to greet
some of our members in some
casual settings outside of church,
meet some of our new neighbors
and be the hands of Christ as we
share Barry & God with others.
We have some great ideas coming
up, and we look forward to your
help in getting things rolling. We
will be keeping you well informed
through the newsletter and inform
you of what we will be doing, so
you can jump on board for some-
thing you have a passion about.
Our first meeting will be July
11th 7-9p in the Upper Room/2nd
Floor . Feel free to send me your
ideas, and I will tally them up. I
would like to think that we all do
not have to be involved in each
project, just the things you are
passionate about. When you love
what you are doing, it is joy to
give. I look forward to working
with all of you. Please spread the
word, the more the merrier!

Barry Christian Church Family,
For the past two years of our lives you all have been like a family to Stacey and me. Throughout
our time at Barry we have come to know and grow with many of you. We have always been
amazed by the love that the church family has and shows for one another other. We experienced
it first hand when my mother had a health scare this past fall and with the loss of my grandpa
this spring. During these trying times, you, my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ were there.
We lost count of how many times people at the church would come up to us and say, “I am
praying for you” or the number of cards Stacey and I received. These acts of kindness helped
Stacey and myself get through such difficult times. It is crystal clear that you all have a great
love for God and neighbor. As a result, Stacey and myself have both grown in our relationship
with God and we are forever thankful for that.
It is because of the love and growth we have experienced in God with you all that makes it quite difficult to say that July
3, 2011 will be my last Sunday at Barry Christian Church. This decision did not come lightly, Stacey and myself spent
many hours in prayer. Words cannot express how difficult this decision was. This decision was made because Stacey and
I are expecting a child and God has called me to be a United Methodist pastor and I need to fulfill that call.
We are so humbled and thankful that you all allowed Stacey and myself to be in your church family for the past two years.
There have been many great memories made at Barry that we will remember for the rest of our lives, from the many food
drives that were held (the congregation always responded with overflowing love) to the Turkey Dinners to the mission
opportunities to the worship services to the great conversations, we could go on and on. One word that characterizes our
time at Barry is blessed.
We have been blessed to come to know and grow with the youth and their families in Christ. The youth here are simply
awesome! I have seen God working so much in the lives of the youth here at Barry. For many youth are more than willing
to go the extra mile to help out, thus love their neighbor(s) and witnessing such actions has challenged me to grow. There
have been multiple times where I have stopped and thought, “Wow! Thank you God! Help me to love like the youth
love.” We will both remember the many youth who read scriptures, sang songs, said prayers/poems, and gave testimonies
at the youth led services, it was awesome to see so many young people be bold in proclaiming their love for Jesus. We
will also forever remember all the great conversations that were had and all the laughter that was shared with the youth,
their families, and everyone in the congregation. Stacey and I will continue to keep the youth, their families, and the
congregation at Barry in our prayers, for we are forever your brother and sister in Christ! We love you all!
In God's Unending Love and Grace,
Jay and Stacey Stewart

A big thank you to Wanda Eacret for all the work she put
into the Memorial gardens around the church - pulling
weeds, laying down mulch and watering. Wanda also had
some assistance from her sister, Linda Eiken. It truly was a
labor of love for we have seen Wanda out there day after
day, working for hours. Your Barry Church family is
thankful to you both, the gardens are beautiful!
Dear Barry Members,
Kindness and compassion are ever present,
yet sometimes can still be hard to find.
Most people will exhibit and/or receive or
witness kindness daily. Compassion can be
harder to find. I am homeless and it was
about to get worse for me. You showed me
kindness and compassion when I had no
reasonable expectation for it. I have
nothing to give back, thanks and gratitude
don‟t seem to be sufficient, but I hope they
suffice. I owe you a debt I cannot repay and
I am humbled.
Thank you,
David
(David was a former church member who
stayed in his camper on the church grounds
for a couple of weeks until he found a place
to stay at a veteran‟s home facility.)
