Each time you begin Barracuda Restore and

perform an action that requires authentication, you

will be required to log in. Once logged in, you will

be required to re-login only if youve changed yourconnection location.

The user name and password should be the same for both the Backup Server and the offsite location

logins. This login is identical to that which you use on the Control Panel.

    Connections

You can choose to restore from either your Backup Server or from the offsite location. When possible, i

is recommended that you restore from the Backup Server. The Backup Server restore is much faster.

The Backup Servers windowwill list your Backup Servers.

    Select one and then choose

    whether youll be restoring its

data from the Backup Server or

from offsite. You must select a

    Backup Server even if restoring

from the offsite location so that

    Barracuda Restore can retrieve

data for the correct Backup Server.

    Backup Server Location

    Offsite Location

If you choose to restore from a Backup Server and click the Backup Server button, the IP Address listed

and the default port will be used. If you click the Manual button, the same IP Address and the defaul

port will be lled in, but you can change

these settings. This will not be necessary for

normal use, unless instructed by Barracuda

    technical support.

If you click the Offsite button, the address

of the offsite location and the offsite default

port will be lled in. Once again, you

should only change these if instructed by

    Barracuda technical support.

    Preferences

    Colors

The Colors tab is strictly for aesthetics. You can use gradients (as demonstrated in the screen shots of

this manual) or just leave the windows in the system colors.

If you choose to personalize your restoring experience by adding some color to your application, youhave a lot of choices on how to apply it. Feel free to play around. Nothing here affects the speed of

    the restores.

    The Window Gradient Type

    affects how the gradients

    are drawn on the windows

    surface. The Header

    Gradient Type affects the

    column headers on lists.

To change the color, click in

the box of a color type. This

    opens the color dialog. The

slider on the right side of

    each color box adjusts the

    range of the gradient.

    Note: When you select a

    color, the application will

    detect whether the luminosity

    works best with white or

black text and will adjust the text of the labels in the windows accordingly. If you select a color too

middle of the road, the application will adjust it to the closest acceptable luminosity. Depending on

whether youve selected a light or dark color the gradient will fade from your selection to white or black

respectively, preventing a gradient that interferes with label text.

Turning off the gradients will not overwrite your selections, but Reverting the Colors and then Applying

    them will.

    File Exploring & Selection

    File View

If youre looking for a le and youre not

sure of the location but know at least

part of the name, then try doing a File

    Search.

The rst 500 records maximum are

returned, so limiting the potential returns

by selecting a size range and/or date

range may help nd the le(s) youre

    looking for.

If you click on a listed le, youll get

some information about it in a tool tip,

    including the number of revisions.

If you double-click a le, youll see a listing of all revisions by date. (This

also works in Folder View when double-clicking a le.)

    File Exploring & Selection

    Folder View

If you need to restore a directory or several directories or les from the same date and time, use the

Folder View. This is a tree view system that displays your backed-up data as it existed at a particular

    point in time.

Optionally, you can choose to view data that had previously been deleted in this view, as well.

Note: When you make selections, the Estimates window shows you the number of les and total size

selected. This may be incorrect when viewing removed/deleted les. When a folder selection is made

that folders totals (which are cached to avoid having to add the contents on the y) do not include

deleted folders/les within it. Therefore, in the tree view, you may see deleted folders that are no

    counted in the totals.

Once you begin a restore and all the les in that restore are returned, the totals will be correct.

    Location

If youve opted to be prompted for a restore location (in the Preferences Location tab), a window will

be displayed with your default restore location. You can change the location by clicking the button to

the left of the restore path (for this restore only) or keep the default.

    Clicking OK will continue

    the restore.

    Clicking Cancel will abort

    the restore.

    Restoring

Once the restore has begun, youll see les in the process of being restored listed with progress bars

    in the top right listbox.

Completed les will be listed in the bottom right listbox.

Across the top right is a progress bar indicating the entire restore with labels.

The folder button below the restores progress bar opens the indicated restore location.

    Restore Canceling, Postponement & Pausing

You can cancel a restore in progress. This will abort the restore,

but you will still be able to access les that were completed.

Secondarily, you can postpone a restore. This will abort therestore. You can access the les that were completed and les

that were partially completed will be continued where they left

off if you choose to restore them in the future. This is very helpful

if you must stop the restore of a very large le.

You may also choose to pause a restore temporarily.

    Restore Details

    The Restore Details window gives

you a lot more information than just

the main windows progress bar and

    labels.

Note: The label just below Queued

indicates whether the totals are stil

estimates or are accurate. Once a

restore begins, the actual totals wil

    be returned rather quickly.

    Restore Completed

Once a restore has completed (or has been cancelled or

postponed), a window will pop up with details about whats

    been restored.

Clicking the Restore Logs button will open the Restore

Logs folder. This folder is located with the les that were

    restored.

Note: Changing the default restore location will not move

    past restore logs.
