Last December, one of Fountain Val-ley’s beloved students, freshman Tiffany Nguyen, lost her life to can-

cer. Tiffany always had a love for helping others, especially children.

In her honor and in order to support her dreams, Tiffany’s friends and family held a car wash on Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The car

wash was donation-supported and also included refreshments. All proceeds were donated to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).

Tiffany’s friends who came out to set up the car wash at 7-Eleven were also greeted with other FVHS students who came to volunteer and support the fundraiser.

The car wash was a tremendous suc-cess. Tiffany’s friends and family raised

over $800 FOR CHOC, which was almost double their goal of $375.

This was their first fundraiser for “Tiffany’s Dream”, a charity and hope-fully a soon-to-be campus club created by Tiffany’s friends and family.

Club Rush 2009: Excitement and EnthusiasmMany clubs advertise in the Bowl to recruit potential members

As the lunch bell rings, thousands of students crowd around the bowl in hope of finding the per-

fect club for them. This can only mean one thing: Club Rush has arrived! This event lasts until Friday, September 25.

What is Club Rush? This four-day

lunch activity gives club members a chance to set up stands and desks in the Bowl to recruit potential members who share a common interest.

This time of the year is usually filled with loud, enthusiastic cheering and promoting, but this year’s is especially thunderous because of a club competi-tion. Mr. Herzfeld and Mr. Kennedy will determine the club with the most spirit

and the best booth and give its members a pizza party.

Club Rush really brings out the di-verse activities around school and shows how unique FVHS really is. From Club Soul to Key Club, there is a club for every student.

Freshmen benefit most from Club Rush, getting the feel of FVHS culture and having the chance to join activities

that will allow them to meet new people.Clubs collected sign-ups by passing

out free T-shirts, raffle tickets, and free food. Club members also walked around the bowl carrying colorful banners that proudly advertise their club. “I think Club Rush is a great experience,” says ju-nior Jennifer Hoang. “It gives you an op-portunity to make new friends and show your interests.”
