Newsletter No. 4 6th August 2021 Bargara State School – One of Queensland’s ‘Bright Spot’ Schools You may recall a few weeks ago I wrote about Bargara State school being identified as one of only 19 schools in Queensland identified as a ‘Bright Spot’ school. The recognition is for our sustained school improvement trajectory and it is something that we are very proud of as a school. My invitation down to Brisbane in a little over a week to join a forum where we share our practices and school elements is probably in a little doubt at the moment. However, hopefully it will go ahead so that I can attend and learn new ideas that we can apply here to make our great school even better. Car Parking In Staff Car Park Please do not park in the staff carpark next to Prep B in the morning and afternoon to drop off students. This carpark is for staff only and we have had an instance of where a child has almost been hit by a car reversing from a park. Year 5 Camp Our Year 5 students had a wonderful 3 days at the Barambah Environment Centre this week and once again our students really delivered on our expectations. It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know the students better and to see their personalities shine through. I believe that most students will have come away with greater confidence in their own abilities in general and as a leader. I enjoyed seeing children try different food and trying activities that stretched them out of their comfort zone. I loved seeing the growth in children when they realised that they can stay away from mum and dad and that they can also really enjoy the time away. Thankyou to Mrs Duff, Mrs Zielke and Ms Phillips who gave up their time so that the students could attend camp for the three days. Also a big thankyou to Ms Phillips for her efforts in organising and co-ordinating the camp. Hi Wonderful Bargara School Community, I hope you all had a great week, especially the Year 5’s at camp! I am looking forward to hearing all the stories and adventures you had. This week in Crafty Creations we are celebrating and making craft around world Ranger Day. We want to acknowledge and talk about what Rangers do to protect our national parks, wildlife and marine life in Australia. We have been creative making different paper plate crafts of our favourite animal, park & marine wildlife. I hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead and I look forward to seeing you all next week on Tuesday and Friday starting at Breakfast Club! Chappy Ris
