What’s New and Exciting... Let me start this month’s article by saying “Thank You” for your support through the Edna McMillian State Missions offering.

Because of your generosity and willingness to give cooperatively, we all get to see lives changed…in eternal ways…all over Oklahoma as we minister together! You can see a full list of where those dol-lars we gave are allocated if you visit statemis-sionok.org/funds-allocation. What I love is that ap-proximately $50,000 of those dollars will be fo-cused on our MVP’s...Multi-vocational pastored churches. If your congregation has a base of 125 or fewer members you compose the backbone of our convention and association. Because of the Edna McMillian offering we will be blessed with-in PLBA as we partner with the BGCO on the Church and Community Spiritual Awakening Project. We will be uti-lizing this strategy to help equip ourselves with prayer-focused ma-terials, as well as train-ing on evangelism and discipleship. As your AMS, I am available and will be seen in ALL our associa-tional churches. Out of 63 PLBA churches, we have 25 multi-vocational pastors…and 73% of our churches average 125 or less in attendance each week. The best way to affect any unhealthy trends that may be developing within our churches is to focus on prayer, evangelism and discipleship! To God be the glory! As we jump into Fall, let this sea-son overwhelm you with its amazing beauty! God’s spectacular display of color through the changing leaves is awe inspiring. Isn’t it amazing that God would paint you and I a picture by changing the color of every single individual leaf on each tree…everywhere! God is always stealing back our atten-tion to help us better understand that He created

everything and that He loves us. My prayer is that you would be seized by His attention this Fall and be drawn even closer to His love!

Spotlight on …Temple Baptist Church

Temple Baptist Church began as a mission of Im-manuel Baptist Church on November 24, 1945 with 55 charter members. The first Sunday afternoon meeting was held in the home of Mrs. D.F. Norman next door to the church. Members met in each other's homes until the first sanctuary was completed in De-cember, 1947. The mission was organized into a church April 15, 1951. The first educational building was completed in April of 1952 with the second addi-tion to the educational plant being completed in 1954. In November, 1963, we purchased lots at 1221 N. Draper to build a parsonage in January, 1964. Con-struction on the upstairs Fellowship Hall and Educa-tional space was started in June 1971 and completed one year later.

Temple has had a total of 13 pastors, the newest pastor is Bro. RJ Stokes who was voted in on Sep-tember 8, 2019. Bro. RJ Stokes accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 13. He was in and out of church until he met his future wife Crissy at the age of 17. Bro. RJ was called to preach while they were members at Choctaw Road Baptist Church 13 years ago. RJ and Crissy have been mar-ried 23 years and have 6 kids. Their oldest daughter Chloe, 21, is a senior at OBU, Noah is 19, Matthew is 14, Joshua is 11, Ben is 8 and finally Moriah is 6. They call Noah their miracle baby and will share that the trials they have gone through with him have only made their relationship with Christ even stronger. Both Matthew and Joshua were adopted by RJ and Crissy May 31, 2014. The Stokes family have been very involved in the ministries of Temple in the last year and half after becoming members before RJ be-came the pastor. They plan to continue to help Tem-ple grow and reach the community around them and their church family.

This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears, all nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres. This is my Father’s world, I rest me in the thought of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; His hand the wonders wrought.” Maltbie D. Babcock

May the God who sculpts mountains and paints sun-sets and orchestrates thun-derstorms inspire you to de-sign worship services that reflect His creative beauty.” Rod Padgett
