Romans 12:11-12 WOW! What a wonderful way to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary with a Road Scholar Trip to “Charming Charleston, S.C.” Gord and Marlene Hambly enjoyed this fabulous adventure and Dr. Hambly will be our fall speaker for the theme “Our Incredible Journey”. Age Unlimited is the Seniors’ Ministry of Banwell Community Church. We meet in the Chapel room at 11:00 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. Henry Nurse is the group coordinator and has a welcome for all. We sing some favourite hymns with Donna Wilcox as our pianist. We have a special guest speaker or a program. Claude Daniels offers Grace prior to our luncheon. This is planned, purchased and prepared by the Hospitality Committee. There are new team planners: Penny Bain and Pam Beemer. Our hostesses include: Madelon Kidd, Dorothy Allan and Carol Middaugh. We ask for a freewill offering to cover the food cost of our delicious luncheon. On September 12th, Gord Hambly will share his passion for history and wildlife. Charleston, South Carolina was known as the hub of the slave trade and the first shot of the Civil War was fired here on Fort Sumter. Gord has a story to tell about these historic events and will show photos of wildlife. Be prepared to be enlightened and entertained by the wonderful trip to “Charming Charleston”. An invitation is extended to all Seniors. A sign-up sheet will be on the coffee counter from August 19th to September 9th. Don’t miss this “Incredible Journey”.
“Live one day at a time and make it a masterpiece!”

A Hint of Heaven “Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church.” 1 Corinthians 14:12 The world-class botanical garden across the street from our church was the setting for an all-church community gathering. As I walked around the gardens greeting people I have known for years, catching up with those I hadn’t seen recently, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings, cared for by people who know and love plants, I realized that the evening was rich with symbols of how the church is supposed to function— a little hint of heaven on earth. A garden is a place where each plant is placed in an environment in which it will thrive. Gardeners prepare the soil, protect the plans from pests, and make sure each one receives the food, water, and sunlight it needs. The result is a beautiful, colorful, and fragrant place for people to enjoy. Like a garden, church is meant to be a place where everyone works together for the glory of God and the good of all; a place where everyone flourishes because we are living in a safe environment; a place where people are cared for according to their needs; where each of us does work we love—work that benefits others. (1 Corinthians 14:26). Like well-cared for plants, people growing in a healthy environment have a sweet fragrance that draws people to God by displaying the beauty of His love. The church is not perfect, but it really is a hint of heaven. Julie Ackerman Link

PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
CHAIR
For the past two years we have been truly
blessed for the leadership KIM ANBER has
provided the committee.
This is an extremely demanding committee
keeping repairs to our building completed as
required. The extensive repairs made to
waterproofing the building consumed a
major part of Kim’s personal time and more
recently the painting of the east hallway.
Kim has taken a very personal and
dedicated approach to the responsibilities of
maintaining our building in a first class
manner.
PLEASE make a point of extending your
appreciation for the outstanding job Kim has
done as his term ended June 30th. A
FANTASTIC JOB WELL DONE BY A
COMMITTED SERVANT.

A PLACE TO HIDE
By: Donna Soper
This summer I had three experiences with wild animals. Each one was a reminder to me how God
protects His creatures. The first one involved a baby fawn. Jeff and I were just pulling into my daugh-
ter’s driveway, in LaSalle, when I noticed a small animal under their vehicle in the driveway. When our
car stopped I jumped out to take a closer look and saw a baby fawn. As soon as he spotted me he
came out from under their car and started crossing the front lawn on wobbly legs. He headed for a
hiding spot under their Hosta plants We were able to snap a couple of pictures of him from a distance.
He remained there all afternoon and finally at dusk he moved down the street and into the woods
where his mother was waiting.
This experience made me wonder how many times we hide when we are afraid or troubled. When our
friends ask how we are, do we share our need for prayer, or do we hide until the crisis is over.
I had a wonderful friend, who has now passed away. She never let me hide my concerns. She would
look me straight in my eyes and say “What’s troubling you”? It is hard to hide from someone who
cares about you and wants to pray for you.
We as Christians already share a strong bond and it gets even stronger when we pray for each other.
Don’t hide your troubles or concerns, share them and you will notice the burden is so much lighter.
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the Law of Christ”.

Windsor Seventh-Day Adventist Church Choir Concert
Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 3 p.m.
@ Banwell Community Church
Freewill offering will be taken
The Windsor Seventh-day Adventist Church choir has been singing praises to God for decades. This 30+ member multinational choir sings for regular church services. However, the "highlight" of each year is an Easter and Christmas Cantata, which swells the ranks to 50 or more singers. The choir has also enjoyed having members of the following churches joining their ranks: Bedford, Belle River, Riverside, Wesley (Amherstburg), and Woodslee United Churches; Riverside Presbyterian. We welcome all who wish to sing with us for a glorious time of music and fellowship. Choir Director, Wendell Phipps states that, "it is great to see how God brings the music together, and after all the hard work, it is nice to hear the 'angels' singing along with us." If you are moved to want to sing with us, please see the director. Come and en-joy this program that will take you on a spiritual "Journey To Hope." **On Sept. 9th during the morning worship service, the Banwell Singers will be joining this choir and singing two numbers. Don’t miss out!!**

VACANT
Randy Van Wagner
MY BACK PAGES Hi folks, Pastor Tim here. Gotta say, the Nuttall’s are looking forward to joining the Banwell family this September. We have been praying for you. We are excited to be joining you. And we believe that God has some incredi-ble things in store. As we all look forward, here’s a question to consider, “Can we as the church step out in confidence to accomplish all that God is calling us to be and do?” In other words, can we go courageously? Can we GO BOLDY? Good question right? Recently, I got caught in a fair bit of traffic near Toronto. I know, my fault for driving in Toronto. As I was easing my way forward in the traffic I had to step on my brakes because a car to my right had decided to insert itself in front of me. My first thought was, “That was gutsy.” Then I looked at his license plate and started to laugh. His license plate read, “GO BOLDLY.” Clearly, this guy was living that out in his driving. As the traffic limped forward I started to reflect on the license plate “GO BOLDLY” with this question, “Can we as the church step out in confidence to accomplish all that God is calling us to be and do?” Can we GO BOLDLY? When I got home I grabbed my Bible and flipped to Matthew 28. I must have read this passage a 1000 times and yet this time something new stood out. Wrapping the call to “GO” was the reality of the “HOW.” Before Jesus ever told them to go, he first reminded them of who was sending them. Jesus said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” In other words, the One who calls us to go is also the One who is in control. That helps right? More than that, after Jesus gives the great commission he reminds us of another reality. Not only is He in control, He is also present. Jesus says, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” That’s more than a promise, that’s a fact. So Yes, we can GO BOLDLY. HOW? By embracing the reality that the One who calls us is present and in control. As we approach this new chapter, may we hear His call and may we step out in faith. Grace and peace be yours in abundance. Pastor Tim
The Great Commission Matthew 28:19
