Purely resistive load bank is the most common type of load bank, and

it proves equivalent loading of both generator and prime mover. That

is, for each kilowatt of load applied to the generator by the load bank,

an equal amount of electrical energy converts to heat by power

resistors, in a general way, this heat must be dissipated from the load

bank by air forced means or other convection.

The JMHing’s resistors are made by high quality finned tubular heating

elements, they are of the type where the surface area is enlarged by a

strip in order to heat gases. At high power the surface temperature is

small and the heating element is short. Meanwhile, Load elements are

cooled usually via Fan Forced Air, blower power is typically provided

by an outside source. Selected load banks are available with blower

power derived from the power source under test.

JMHing’s AC resistive load banks can be further divided into these categories:

A resistive load bank easily carried or pushed on

strong robust swivel wheels for testing and

maintaining AC power equipment such as UPS

systems and generators up to 150kW.

A resistive load bank for testing and maintaining

AC power equipment such as UPS systems and

generators at one location up to 4600kW. Many

models can be used as modular building blocks for

applications requiring capacity of tens or hundreds

of megawatts. Also the load banks can be loaded

on a trailer for more flexibility.

Resisive/Reacive Load Banks

The resistive/reactive combination load banks are used to test the engine

generator set or other electromagnetic devices working at their rated power

factor. We mainly manufacture three types of resistive/reactive load banks as

follow for different testing purpose.

RL load bank, combined with resistive load and inductive load to simulate

lagging power factor, is mainly for generator and UPS testing. In most cases this

is 0.8 power factor, and to achieve a 0.8 power factor, the reactive(inductive)

load should be sized at 75% of the resistive load bank kW rating.

We also manufacture RLC load banks, in this type of load banks, inductive or

capacitive load are reactive only and must be used in combination with a resistive load

to provide the desired load profile to test a power system. Reactive loads banks can

provide either a leading power factor (Capacitive) or lagging power factor (Inductive).

RCD load bank is similar to a reactive load bank in rating and

purpose, except that leading power factor loads are created. These

loads simulate certain electronic or non-linear loads typical of

telecommunications, computer or UPS industries.

DC Load BanksJMHing constant current DC load banks are designed for acceptance testing, discharge testing, battery capacity

testing, battery maintenance, engineering examination and other tests for DC power with loads. The standard range

starts at a nominal 24V/100A up to 1000V/500A, with a wide range of intermediate voltages and currents. Dual and

multiple voltage is available on some units.

Also applications for JMHING DC load banks vary according to our worldwide customers’ needs. We have the

expertise and capacity to deliver a range of larger load banks, for example:2500A@48V.

JMHing offers several models of stationary resistive or reactive load banks for testing and maintaining generators and

other AC power systems up to 4600 kW. Many models can be used as modular building blocks for applications

requiring a capacity of tens or hundreds of megawatts.

JMHing also manufactures several models of medium/high voltage (up to 12kV) resistive load banks for testing and

maintaining large generators and other AC power systems up to 6000 kW. We offer the convenience of direct connect

medium voltage load banks without the need for transformers.
