Vikings Lady HOOPS season wrap up

UPCOMING EVENTS

From Coach Chris Fenner The February 24th week was a short one for the ladies as we finished up the last two games of the regular season We hosted the Kalamazoo Home School team on Tuesday Feb 25 and put up a great effort posting our high-est scoring output all season with 44 points The Cougars closed the game at the free throw line by only missing 1 in the 4th quarter and it doomed the ladies losing 53-44 Bangor was led by Lexy Strampel with 16 points and 16 rebounds Amara Lit-tlefield with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Maritza Barajas with 12 points and 8 rebounds

The ladies traveled to Michigan Lu-theran on Feb 27 to finish their regular season against a 17-1 Titan team The first quarter started slow for both teams but the scoring picked up in the 2nd half with ML capitalizing on some Bangor mistakes and sealing the game for the Titans 53-25 Bangor was led by Lexy Stram-pel with 8 points and 11 rebounds Amara Littlefield with 8 points and 10 rebounds and Alyssa Birner with 5 points and 5 rebounds The ladies will travel to Lawton on Monday night at 6 and play Bloomingdale in the first round of districts

The Middle School girls basketball season was a great success this year The 7th grade team went 1-10 and the 8th grade team went 3-8 If you just look at our records you might wonder how the season was a success The teams winloss record does not represent the hard work and improve-ment that each of the teams exhib-

ited everyday Every one of the girls showed so much improvement not only their basketball skills but also in leadership and sportsmanship There is so much to build upon in future years for all of them and it will be exciting to watch what they are able to do on the court in the next several years

The Lady Vikings Varsity basket-ball team wrapped up the 2019-2020 season on Monday March 2nd in the first round of the district tournament against Bloomingdale It wasnrsquot the de-sired finale but so many improvements and achievements were made by all team members throughout the season Lone senior Maritza Barajas will be sorely missed She contributed 121 points 135 rebounds 33 steals and 8 assists to the season Junior Amara Littlefield led the team in points and re-bounds with 136 and 185 respectively She also had 48 steals and 16 assists Leading the team with 50 steals was sophomore Alyssa Birner who also grabbed 90 rebounds 90 points 20 as-sists and 15 blocks Sophomore Lexy Strampel added 93 points and 117 rebounds to the season Junior guard Emily Hernandez had 41 points 44 rebounds 48 steals and 25 assists Siney Santiago our Sophomore guard contributed 37 points 53 rebounds 28 steals and 16 assists to the season With youth on our side the Lady

Vikings look to bring experience and off-season dedication into the 2020-2021 season This is a remarkable group of hard-working student athletes and we couldnrsquot be more proud Thanks for an awesome season ladies Coaches Fenner Lennox Luter and Adams are all honored to have worked with you

The Bloomingdale Cardinalsrsquo varsity boys basketball team finished their regular season schedule this week with a couple of nice team wins The Cardinals traveled to White Pigeon last Friday to take on the Chiefs and came away with a victory by the score of 66-56 The team was led by senior Tyler Starbuck with 26 points followed by Pierce Manning 8 Mav Manning 7 Michael Ellis 6 Carson Fisher 6 Bobby Boyer 6 Ethan Gumpert 5 and Yahir Peralas 2

The boys then rounded out the season with an impressive win over Bangor on Tues-day 69-44 This was a great team win heading into districts with a balanced scoring attack Tyler Starbuck scored 16 while Bobby Boyer chipped in 14 Michael Ellis had 8 Ethan Gumpert 8 Carson Fisher 7 Mav Manning 5 Pierce Manning 4 Anthony Laws 4 Yahir Peralas 2 and Jason Latham 1 The boys will take on Hartford in the first round of districts Monday March 9th at 530pm Bloomingdale hosts the boys district tournament this year so come out to support these boys and enjoy all the action

The Bloomingdale Middle Wrestling will be wrapping up their season Saturday February 29 at the Coloma Invitational This will be an opportunity for wrestlers to bring home some hardware This will be the Cardinals second tournament of the season The Cardinals have 9 wrestlers on their squad Some of the outstanding records include Makenzie Barnes (11-2) Josh Bemis (11-3) Jaden Barnes (8-3) The other wrestlers on the team include Angel Andrade Josue Soriano Julian Serna Giovanna Gonzalez and Troy Zuck Hayden Finlay is out for the season due to an injury The Coaches for the team are Coach Pfeiffer and Coach Visscher They are happy with the success of this years team and they look forward to watching them wrestle in the future
